ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 471 Part 2
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 471: Dragon! Oh Dragon! PART 48 Part 2
And since Kyogoku could not simply go and destroy everything that was in sight, having to think about the future of this facility, she was struggling quite a lot up until now.
However, that matter has already been settled, so there is no need to go back to it.
Looking at it from the kendo perspective it was by no means a good fight, since Kyogoku used all sorts of dirty tricks such as jump and aerial attacks and “surprise” attacks that meant cutting through her enemies through the walls and obstacles instead of fighting them head on.
But if you look at it through the standards of the Bakumatsu Online, it was more or less a textbook example of a fight. Use whatever means necessary in order to achieve your goal.
Not to mention that in ShangriLa Frontier, where three dimensional maneuvers were easier to perform and you could do a whole variety of them, agile characters had a whole lot more space to show off their skills than anywhere else. So the combat was a whole lot more satisfying than in the Bakumatsu Online.
「…… Alright, then. For the time being…… Which one of those things should I operate here?」
While more and more system windows started to pop up all around Kyogoku, more and more question marks started to pop up all over her head. And it took her about two minutes or so in order to finally arrive at the section she was aiming at: the section devoted to the buffs that the Skull Azuchi Castle could grant onto the players.
「Whoa, won’t you look at that! Is this what building a castle-sized structure brings with itself? …… Compared to that, our base’s one ability seems really bleak and disinteresting.」
They might have only one ability, but it was a rather troublesome ability. But smiling in a bitter way, Kyogoku scrolls down until she sees what she was aiming after: the anti-Noirlind buffs granted to the players. Without a second thought, she releases all of them, causing them to stop affecting the players.
Then the time has come to set some buffs of their own.
「Alright, something like that should more than suffice for about ninety six people, I’d say.」
* Hostile Target: Siegwurm, the Heavenly Emperor
* Objects of Strengthening: Players and Friendly NPCs locked in combat with the hostile target.
* Contents of Strengthening:
Recovery of HP and MP every fifteen seconds.
Enhancement of all statistics.
Applied Bonus Damage Effects
Recast Time Reduced by twenty percent.
The cost of activation for magic spells was reduced by ten percent.
Increased attack power of offensive skills.
Increased attack power of offensive magic.
The time left until Siegwurm’s detonation…… Three minutes.
* * *
「…… So, we have to deal with a physical attack barrier every time that Siegwurm looks at the attackers, area of effect laser attacks, omni-directional shockwaves. How are we supposed to deal with that?」
「Answer: we should not be focused on trying to land a successful blow. We should focus on forcing Siegwurm to avert his gaze, that way every attack is going to be successful either way…… At least that’s what I think.」
「…… I know that, but still, I would like to find a way for us to be able to deal as much successful damage and hits as possible if we can help it.」
The pilot of the mechanical bird mutters to herself while her machine flaps its wings and looks down at Siegwurm from above. And while Mold was doing his best to give her the best suggestions he could in this situation, Rust was still wondering if there was not something else they could do in that short amount of time that was left to them.
「…… Ready.」
「Scrutiny: I was also able to confirm it from here. There are two remaining dragons, one of them is currently……」
「Umm, yeah, but no. We have more important things to take care of than worrying about that other dragon……」
Those troublesome barriers that Siegwurm was able to put up right now…… Given their characteristics, his horns were not the source of the barriers, so there is no need to target them above everything else.
「Suzaku, this will most probably be our last shot here…… So make it count!」
「ROGER THAT! ACTIVATING BOTH “ARAHABAKI” AND “MAGIC BLADES SLASHERS”!!!」
Time left until Siegwurm’s detonation…… two minutes.
* * *
Akitsu Akane was currently watching the scene with great care and interest.
Everyone currently present on the field decided to squeeze out their last remaining resources and launch one last desperate all-out attack against Siegwurm.
Every time the light shines and gold particles scatter about the battlefield, a considerable amount of players is lost. But even in spite of that, the rest of the players push forward without being afraid of death in the least.
「Look at that, Noirlind-san! Isn’t that amazing?」
(…… Hmph. Be that as it may, we are going to be the ones who shall decide the result of this battle!)
「I guess that you are right. Everyone is counting on us, so we can’t fail the trust they have put in us!」
Not yet, not yet…… Not yet. The moment for Akitsu Akane to be on the move have not arrived yet. And so Akitsu Akane was waiting patiently. Waiting for the moment when she could finally go into action.
The time left until Siegwurm’s detonation: one……
At that exact moment, the entire world shook in its foundation.
* * *
At that exact moment, the entire sea exploded.
Although it was mostly liquid, there was a huge mass of something else coming out of it, resembling sea water in color.
QUUUUUUUUUOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN……!!!!!!!!!
In order to cross the sea of stars it has lost the majority of its original power, but its anti-gravity propeller was more than strong enough to make it float on the water’s surface. And somewhere in the distance…… a long and lone melody of whistle could be heard, cold and majestic like the frost of stars.
Humans, oh humans! It’s nice to meet you at last! Also, it’s been a long time since I have last been here!
Because of the gravity, the water from the sea bursts high in the air only to start to fall back down just like cascades of the waterfall. And what emerged from the sea seems like it’s rising steadily, higher and higher. But because its wings lost the majority of its power, it was no longer able to rise in the air, and had to suffice with the surface of the sea.
Its appearance resembles a moving continental landmass, or the mythical creature. Bahamut, the fish that carries the world on its back. It once travelled through the stars carrying humanity with it, and now it was here.
And just like its name might suggest, its sheer size was gigantic, way bigger than any human could ever imagine. Think of a whale, but about a dozen if not a hundred of dozen times bigger.
「GOOD MORNING! GOOD MORNING! MY NAME IS ISANA, The BRAVE FISH! WE CAN FINALLY MEET!」
It was a voice filled with joy. The voice of a woman who called herself Isana, announcing that she is a godly beast with that name alone.
「TECHNICALLY SPEAKING, I AM A BAHAMUT-CLASS INTERSTELLAR ARCOLOGY SHIP “LEVIATHAN”. I HAVE EMERGED TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE NEXT GENERATION HUMAN BEINGS THAT SUMMONED ME!」
The name of the spaceship. It comes from the ancient religion of three gods. It’s one of the pillars of said religion, a divine beast equal to Gods themselves.
