While it might be true that the exterior of Techno Magi—Gel might be exceptionally strong against any form of magic attacks, it is also true that it is exceptionally weak against normal attacks and attack skills. Now, even if we were to factor random numbers into the equation here, due to the high difference in our levels I was always pretty much one-shotting those enemies.
But it’s just that, yeah…… Here’s the thing.
「Is it just me, or is this monster also equipped with a command to call for backup when things start to go south? Either way, this works for me just fine! Bring it on! Hahahahaha!!!」
Pull it out and then stab it! Pull it out, and then stab it! Pull it out and then stab it! The floor of this place is slowly starting to turn into gel, but the item drop rate is also reasonable enough for me to just keep on going and going without stopping. Plus, I don’t even have to grab the items myself. All that I need to do here is to simply walk over them and the items get added into my inventory automatically. Talk about convenience!
「What’s my current score, thirty five or so……? Tsk, with the enemies being such small fries, it should be easily about fifty bodies per minute. Need to step up my game, it seems……」
No, that’s not it, or at least not entirely. For you see, this place is structured like a dungeon, with corridors and obstacles included. Normally enemies should be coming right at me without stopping, but the Techno Magi-Gel possesses one peculiarity: it has a solid core inside of its body, around which the gel is being place. Because of that characteristic it is not entirely liquid, so it cannot just slip in between the gaps in terrain and objects.
So naturally, if you want to keep on farming, you have to go out of your way and actively seek the new enemies out instead of just letting them come towards you and do their thing by calling for backup.
SPLOSH.
「…… Ahh, so they can also go on top of things. Good to know, I guess.」
Yes, that discovery is really good news, as far as the three-dimensional maneuvering is concerned. So if they can do it, I can do it as well……! Well, not now, actually. For the Critical Speed’s performance is way too wonky to be called reliable in a place like that. But someday…… Yeah, someday it should be possible for me as well.
「Hey, Sigma.」
「Roger that, Master: initiating the combination transformation armament “Dressing Box”. Switching into Gatling gun mode…… Commencing wiping out the entire area.」
All of a sudden, there is a literal meteor shower of bullets raining down onto the enemies in here from far above. The bullets came down in such huge amounts that it was more than enough to blow away the liquid exterior of the Techno Magi-Gels, expose their cores and then shatter them to pieces with relative ease. Nothing beats area of effect attacks like that.
「Turns out, it’s just simple physics at work here. If something is artificial and has a “core” that is protected by the outside layer…… The most natural solution that comes to mind is to just blow this outside layer away. As simple and as easy as it sounds!」
「And now thanks to that idea of yours it’s raining gel all over the place!」
「Think of it as Intelligence that just keeps on squirting gel out! It helps me to cope through this……!」
I wonder if using words such as “squirting” would classify as R-18 in here? It better not be, since I would not want to get banned for that.
Needless to say, because just now we managed to pretty much massacre every single enemy that was right in front of us, copious amounts of gel was dripping all over the floor, accompanied by the quite literal rain of bottles that were the drop items. Now it was just a matter of walking over the items to pick them up as we are pressing forward. As simple and easy as it sounds……

「Alright, so far we managed to decimate about three hundred golem-type monsters, both new and old. But it would be unwise to delve too deep into this place now, so it’s better for us to go back and catch a quick break. Oh, yeah. Before I forget. Here, catch this! It’s a souvenir from our venture just now!」
「What is this thing supposed to be?」
「Cosmetic gel. A beauty product, so to speak.」
「And you really came back all this way just so you could give me that!? Are you serious!?」
Well, for all that we know we can have a pretty much infinite supply of those things, so…… It should be all fine in my book, I guess?
「I also found out that we can take things nice and easy here. For you see, the structure of this place makes it extremely painful to actually go out and look out for the boss. So we can just go one step at a time at our own pace, not having to worry about anything.」
It seems that the guild to which Tottori belongs specializes in mapping out places like that and similar activities, but I am no good with technical stuff like that. Well, unfortunately this first layer of the ship was way bigger and more complex than your standard level thirty dungeon. In short, since this is the very first area, or the outermost layer, if you want, it is actually really hard to estimate the actual size of this mechanical whale. And being confined to staying inside of it certainly is not going to help all that much in researching that subject.
At least I find solace in fact that I am the very first player to ever set foot in this thing. Although being alone means that I cannot be reckless here. I assume that even the biggest party formed of fifteen people would want to proceed with extreme caution, especially since this terrain is one huge unknown for us players.
「In other words, let’s try to find some hints about this place first…… And then we can worry about conjuring the appropriate strategy.」
For example, with a map this big you can hypothesize that there will be shortcuts to some important places or maybe even map gimmicks, just like it took place in Lulilas. Who knows, maybe it will even be possible to weaken the boss monsters around this place? It’s certainly worth a shot.
As for the actual hints…… I think that I have seen one just above us.
「Hey, Sigma? Can you look over that object right above us for me real quick?」
「Roger that, Master.」
Unfortunately this environment is way too unsure for me to actually risk using the Critical Speed here to scout things out myself. It is painful to admit that, but that’s what the party is for, to cover for your own shortcomings. And even though as a “Maximum Speed” title holder it should THEORETICALLY be possible for me to reach that place…… Yeah, I don’t want to needlessly risk it.
「Confirmation completed: there is nothing of particular interest up there.」
「I see. But in that case, this raises a question: where are those gel golems coming from, anyway?」
「I do believe it’s from over there.」
