「And guess what, everyone!? For today’s show, we even have a very special guest present right here in the studio with us! And even though I have learned about this fairly recently, because it was supposed to be a huge secret, now I cannot help myself but to actually feel all excited because of that! …… So without any further ado, let us invite our guests onto the stage right away! At first, Professional Gamer, Uomi Kei—san!!!」
And right in the next moment, a man suddenly appeared right in the middle of the studio, up until now being cleverly concealed from the audience with the use of AR technology.
And for it to be able to do that in real time no less…… I can see that this system really has loads of potential sleeping inside of it. It looked amazing here in the studio, so I wonder what was the reaction of everyone watching the steam from homes?
「Hahaha…..,. Thank you, thank you! Thank you very much for having me today!」
「If my memory serves me correctly, we have met before, during the time of GGC, was it? How long has it been, about three months or so? So let me just say this here: It’s been a long time!」
「Yes, it certainly has been a while now…… Everyone, nice to meet you! I’m Uomi, thank you for having me here!」
Katsu greeted the viewers while looking into the cameras, smiling all the time and gently waving his hand. From his behavior you could see that he was actually used to situations quite like that, and small wander: surely it was not his first time in a studio like that. You could also say that right after his presentation a string of comments started to appear all over the place, illustrating just how much of an impact he made.
Professional Gamers may not be people of the same fame and renown as athletes, but they surely must know how to make an entrance. And just like with athletes on the stadium, here there are also people in the studio who make sure that the transmission from their entrance is going to be just right, making it even more memorable.
Everything in here is the product of a well-thought out directing. Every smile, every gesture, every single move. And it is thanks to that direction that the program can proceed smoothly and without interruptions. Or at the very least…… It is going so well for now.
「With that being said, Uomi-san? I know that it was sudden, but for you to receive the information from the Director-san that the “Channel Eight!” is going to change studios from what was originally planned into this here Studio Two…… Aside from this being a second broadcast, would you like to phantom a guess why the events unfolded the way they did?」
「No, no, no! I mean, I am completely in the dark with this matter, probably as much as you are now! But since I have my suspicions about this matter, I might as well try to voice them out loud, to see if they are actually correct or not. Hmm, let’s see…… It’s only a speculation on my end, but maybe during today’s show there will be some sort of secret activity or maybe even a secret guess who is going to join us? What do you think about that, Eight-san?」
「Yes! That’s right! That’s exactly right! You’ve managed to hit a bulls-eye! Actually, for this special broadcast we have brought other guests besides Uomi-san! Can you imagine that? Now, if you please, Uomi-san…… Would you like to try and predict who the other guests might be?」
「Hmm, let’s see…… Oh my, predicting things like that is actually a whole lot harder than I would have expected…… Who could that be? Maybe it’s going to be someone with some sort of connection to me? Or someone who shared with me some special circumstances in the past? Because you see that a whole lot in programs like that, wouldn’t you agree? And recently it is becoming a new trend to bring more than one secret guest, so……」
「Hm? So, are you saying that your prediction is us having brought whole three people into the studio?」
「Maybe one more guest would be a serious one, and the other one would be a sort of a comedic relief……? Huh? Don’t tell me you’ve actually brought even more people!?」
「Yes! Well then, production team! If you’d please bring the guests over!」
Eight might not have been aware of that, but with programs like this there are always people who are responsible for taking care of unforeseen scenarios and sudden change of situations. Same thing was here, with people waiting by the Augmented Reality projectors, ready to operate them at any moment. And as they adjusted the projectors, about three new people appeared seemingly out of the blue right in the middle of the studio.
One person was a petite-looking girl with long blonde hair, wearing a silver mask on her face that hardly even tried to conceal her identity. In a situation like that, it would even raise a question: why was this person trying to hide her identity in the first place……? Of course, the first mysterious guest was none other than Silvia Goldberg.
Another person was a very masculine-like woman who was wearing a Hannya mask for some strange reason, but at the same time was emitting an aura that seemed to be saying that she would not lose to anyone under any circumstances…… that woman must have been Amelia Sullivan.
And the third person was me, wearing a strange cosplay getup accompanied with a full-face helmet stylized after a huge pumpkin. It was actually a good thing that my wishes were respected and I was able to get something that would keep my identity hidden away. Say hello to new Sanra…… I mean, the last mysterious person.
「Umm, Uomi—san? Please correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like you know in private at least two out of those three people, is that right……? Also, now that I’m seeing things, it seems that two out of those three are actually really famous people with their names being quite popular around the world……」
「We are Mysterious Silver Mask and Masked Hannya! Thank you very much!」
「Eh? No, I mean, umm……」
「Since we have come here from the United States during our vacation, we thought it might be a good idea to make an appearance on Japanese TV for once! Hahaha! And just like that! Here I am! I am Mysterious Silver Mask!」
「Ah! Miss Eight! It’s been a while, hasn’t it?」
「Whoa there, I guess that we might have gone for a little bit too effective of a killer pass here, don’t you think? After all, this is Eight-chan’s show here, so we better not steal it from her.」
「Yes, and besides, if we keep it that way, I’m afraid that I won’t be able to follow myself here…… Hahaha! This! This right here! Just don’t turn this into a “Dead Fish’s Eyes Uomi-san”! by accident!」
I could say it with utmost certainty. Even though Eight-chan was smiling still, right about now she was most probably on the verge of losing it, and she was doing whatever it was in her power to keep her cool. But that look in her eyes…… Some things you are just unable to hide.
But even if she was starting to be a little bit fed up with all this, Idols are Idols and they must stick to the program no matter what. And with that being said, at that moment Katsu and I turn around and face the Mysterious Silver Mask and Masked Hannya……
「Are you “No Face”, by any chance?」
「…………」
Just that one question was more than enough to cause me to start sweating intensely under the mask I was wearing. Back then I had no idea, but this thing right here was going to be a prelude to a much bigger storm that was about to come through the world of entertainment that day……
