ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 496: Three Angles of a Triangle Part 2

「No, I mean, I get a feeling that underestimating American Professional Gamers is not a wise thing to do here…… Speaking of which, originally they were supposed to play Grave Venus, but the agenda was changed almost at the last possible moment to Galaxia Heroes: Chaos. 「Let’s see, it certainly feels that way…… Oh well, I do believe that there may even be some pretty personal and selfish reasons staying behind those sudden changes, so I can only hope that you can please forgive them for that!」

Grave Versus, the game that we were supposed to play before it was decided that we would play Galaxia Heroes: Chaos, is that a game related to Justice Versus…… Huh? This is troubling, I can feel that the caffeine is not entirely coursing through my system quite yet. I feel like a gas stove that has the gas flowing, but there is no spark that would ignite that fire.

「Hey, Eagle Eyes! Could it be that you have come to Japan specifically so that you could play against me?」

「Yes, that is exactly right. I have come here specifically so that I could play against you and judge your worth myself.」

Katso looked as if he was going to say something here, but it was at this moment that I raised my palm and stopped him from doing that. It was not part of our beforehand—prepared script, but I was hoping that he could understand.

It seems that even though I spoke those words in Japanese, their meaning was understood without a problem. And with that, my own engines were already starting to warm up.

「We are going to be on TV, you know? If so, we must do everything that is in our power to make this thing as entertaining as possible.」

Triangle Trinity.

It was the name of the newly formed battle mode that was invented roughly around the same time as the update for Galaxia Heroes: Chaos came out.

Normally you would have a good old one on one match, where the winner would be determined in a Best of Four or Best of Six Rounds. But Triangle Trinity is clearly different from that. It is a battle mode where one player chooses three characters and then dukes it with the three characters that his opponent chose, as well as the three additional characters controlled by the AI. Of course, the place of the battle is none other than Chaos City, and instead of a classic battle you compete in a mode that is more battle royal than anything else.

「I have come all this way to Japan, so I expect you to use Cursed Prison to fight me.」

「I accept the challenge. Bring it on!」

「Great. Just what I was hoping for.」

Ahh, my head is starting to get clearer all of a sudden. I can see that the effect of this one kicks in faster than the other ones, most probably because of the stuff that was put into it. Small wonder why people think it is potentially hazardous to your health.

「Uwaah…… I wonder if my insurance is going to cover it all if something really ends up happening to me?」

Hmm, let’s try to open up Riot Blood sometime soon and then boil some water, pour it into the can and wait for three minutes. I’m sure that nothing serious is going to happen with it. Trust me.

I am so sorry for my lack of knowledge and proper research beforehand, Uomi-san, but could you please explain to the audience what this whole Triangle Trinity system is all about?」

「Certainly. You see, Eight-san Triangle Trinity is the newest kind of battle format that has recently been implemented when it comes to the scene of Professional Gaming. It revolves around the idea that each player selects up to three characters, and once one of their selected characters gets KO’d, then they can instantly switch onto the next character. I would honestly be fine with the old system because of my personal playstyle, but I am glad that they are always on the lookout for more ways to make things even more interesting for the players and viewers alike.」」

「Me too! Me too!」

「So in other words, in order for the players to win a round, they have to knock out not one of their opponent’s characters, but all three of them? Is that right?」

「Hmm, you are partially right about that, but you are also partially wrong here. While it may be true that with this mode being implemented there is no way to achieve victory by obtaining the Chaos Cube, but with this Triangle Trinity…… How about we abbreviate it to W Delta? You see, W Delta is a battle mode unique to the world of Galaxia Heroes: Chaos. To put it simply here…… In addition to the characters controlled by the players, the remaining two characters will be controlled by the AI. So they will be a sort of battle NPCs.」

「And the view mode is going from the fourth person perspective……!? Oh yeah! Mechanitian! This is going to be really interesting!」
