ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 521: An Orchestra Just For You PART 3 Part 1
「Allllllrrrrrrriiiiiiggghhhtttt!!!!!! That’s what I’m talking about!」
Thank you for your performance, Wezaemon, but now get the hell out of here and never come back! I hope that I have to fight you like that ever again! Now, if you truly call yourself a Gravekeeper, then go back to your beloved and stay there with her! I’m sure she’s missing you! And whatever form of a grudge you have against me, you beloved should always come first before things like that!
However, just because I have succeeded in taking Wezaemon down does not mean that I can allow myself to let my guard down. That is because this blasted Orchestra recreates the heroic deeds in the form of a Heroic Epic…… In other words, the thing that should come my way next…… Yeah, there are too many possibilities here, and that fact alone stands to make me extremely angry for some reason. Maybe being a production worker in a game like that is not so bad after all? You know, just sitting in one place at all times, no fighting at all, just cultivating the fields and doing honest work just like that……? Yeah, it’s a really nice vision……
「Yeah, like…… no way! There’s no way I would go and actually do something like that……!」
I may not be as huge of a battle maniac as Survibaal / Yashiro Bird, but I am never going to back down from a fight or a challenge if it decides to present itself to me. That is because I am a gamer at heart! And accepting various challenges and overcoming them is what gamers do on a daily basis! Call it a bad habit from some of the older action games that I have played in the past, but that is the truth here. No beast is ever going to make me run away or surrender! At least not without a proper fight first!
Incidentally, while I took that moment to take a short break to catch my breath and recover some of my lost HP, I noticed that once the Orchestra finished this loop of its song, they went silent for a moment before eventually starting to play once again, but this time around a somewhat different melody than before.
「“THE HEROIC TALE OF SANRAKU. CHAPTER TWO: …… THE NIGHT SKY, THE MOON OF THE EARTH”!!!」
The number of violins playing suddenly increases, and there is also some sort of a whistling sound added into the mix…… Where have I heard that before? And I am sure I know how that instrument is actually called…… Oh yeah! Clarinet! It should be that thing called clarinet, right?
Also, the tone and the pressure of the music played by the orchestra started to increase, and so was the tension starting to skyrocket. As if to respond to that occurrence, the entire theatre area started to shake and tremble…… No, that’s not it! It was not because of the music! It’s just that the field started to shake and sway because of the thing that was about to appear! Music had nothing to do with that!
「Uwoooah!?」
ZUGON! With that loud crashing sound something huge pops out from under the ground right in front of me! Could this tactic be some sort of a new attempt at surprise attack? However, once I was able to see what it was that rose from under the ground, that worry was chased away. But it was replaced with an entirely new set of worries once that thing continued to grow and it showed no actual signs of stopping increasing its size.
「The moon of the Earth…… And then you add the field full of crystals into the mix…… Ahh, now I see it. Oh yeah! So, my next opponent is going to be you, huh!? Great! Just bring it on!」
In just a blink of an eye, the entire theatre gets completely covered in huge chunks of oversized crystals. And the thing that appeared was bound to be just like the previous Gravekeeper Wezaemon, just an illusion. Because I refuse to believe that something like that was just sitting on its ass underground here, waiting for its chance to randomly pop out like that. It’s the “Moon of the Earth” alright now that I think about it. Especially with that golden glow of its, resembling the full moon hanging in the night sky.
Yeah, it’s just the way I remember it to be. The Golden Crystal Scorpion is still as intimidating as ever. Its claws are still sharp and scissors-like, and its stinger still looks like it would be ready to pierce you right through if you gave it the smallest opening. Now I have to wonder…… Are you the same kind of Golden Crystal Scorpion that I remember from my travels? Or perhaps you are some kind of evolved variety, something that is far more dangerous than I am aware of at the current moment?

Huh? Ahh. Yeah. I mean, I guess that the “Heroic Tale of Sanraku” would recall the great deeds that my avatar managed to accomplish and summon the powerful monsters that I happened to defeat until this point in time here, but…… Wait, that’s it? Golden Crystal Scorpion alone? That’s really it? There’s really nothing more?
「I mean, because I was aiming for creating armor out of this thing I have fought it a whole bunch of times, so now I have pretty much have its attack pattern memorized……」
This battle will also most probably contain some kind of story that I will have to try and reproduce, but…… You know what? Let’s not worry about it for now. Let’s just try to listen to the lyrics for the time being and discover what it is that we must do here.
「–––––– The night sky, moonlight shining bright. Turning, escaping to storage space, landing on the moon.」
There is still some amount of good distance between the Golden Crystal Scorpion and I, so its stinger should not be all that much a cause for concern, and judging by the lyrics of the song I would hazard a guess here that the standard battle tactics against this thing are going to be applied here.
Because the attacks of the Golden Crystal Scorpion seem to be pretty much systemic, I am pretty much confident that the opening attack is going to be the one with its stinger, then it will be followed by the claws and the closing attack will be a tail sweep attack. Most of the attack behaviors of this guy oscillate around those three attack types, so unless it doesn’t have some new moves mixed in there it should be fairly easy for me to get a read on them before they manage to connect.
So, I urge my body to get a move on, avoid the opening attack of the Golden Crystal Scorpion and the follow up claws attack, and then I jump right on top of it, balancing on its torso while planning my next move from here.
Although the stinger of this thing can pack a whole lot of punch, you would be surprised just how weak it tends to be once you decide to strike it from the side. So I do just that, slashing with my swords in the direction of the stinger’s side, and then I jump in the air for a moment to reposition myself and allow myself to recover some of my lost stamina.
