ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 532 Part 2
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 532: A Requiem Just For You FIRST HALF Part 2
Yes, it’s a really nice scene, one that would be worth breaking both popcorn and cola. Even though the caramel popcorn goes poorly with carbonated drinks, if that’s someone’s favorite, then I am surely not going to mind at all. But I most definitely wouldn’t want to visit the toilet after whoever it was that decided to consume such a combination. In the first place, since popcorn takes away the moisture from the mouth, it would only serve to create one heck of a nasty experience sometimes later…… Whoa now! Getting sidetracked here! Back on track, me!
「Winning is going to be extremely unlikely here, and the possibility of death is all but certain…… But, does that mean that we are going to turn away and run with our tails between our legs!? Is that how a Hero would act!? Is that how we wish to be remembered!?」
「No!!!」
「Yes, that is exactly right! Dolodana did not escape!! Even though the enemy was mighty! Even though the enemy proved to be too much for him! But he still chose to hold his ground! And we are going to do the same! We won’t be any worse!」
The road towards greatness is never an easy one. It’s thorny and treacherous, and it is not at all that odd that there are bound to be some sacrifices that must be made while threading it down.
But I can see that the Giants never even considered that here. Actually, they all looked as though they were in a trance, excited and all fired up by their own words.
「Ignite your passion! Let your blood boil! Use those emotions to avenge the fallen Hero! There is nothing to be afraid of! If Dolodana of Aradval was able to fight those creatures, this means that we the dragon slayers can do that as well!」
–––––– However.
Yes, unfortunately, there is a “however” to this whole story. A pretty big “however”.
It is a dark and peculiar development, but at the same time something oh so characteristic of many heroic epics. You can even say that it is a staple ending for a brave hero who fears not death and always looks for a new challenge…… Something that seems like such a cliché, but there is an odd sense of charm to it.
「It was at that time that the Hero felt that something was wrong. That something was missing…… Yes, there was no Aradval to be found in the Hero’s hand! Instead, it was far away, and it was getting even further away! It was truly a sad moment……」
The moment I said those words, the noise of the giants stopped once more. Yes, I know, but it is something that cannot be changed, no matter how strong we wish for it. We can only honor the Hero by retelling exactly what happened.
「Ohh, the abominable snake, Naga! You can’t fly in the sky! You can’t tear your prey apart with your claws! You can’t even stomp your opponents under your feet! Therefore, instead of a dragon, they are much close to being snakes……」
Ooohhh! The giants all lamented upon hearing those words. Everyone seemed to know where this tale was going, and no one was trying to hide the emotions that were gnawing at them any longer.
「Aradval destroys the evil dragon. If all of the enemies were like that, it would be nothing special, nothing out of the ordinary. However…… However…… Even though they were snakes, not dragons, something is wrong. Dolodana’s body feels weak. And then it occurs to him: it’s because of one of the wounds that he suffered. Something bad got info his system through that wound and is now coursing throughout his entire body.」
It seems as though the depiction here pretty much covers what I already know. He must have become poisoned and his HP would start to decrease rapidly, and there was nothing he could do to prevent that from happening. However, it was not the end of the story.
「It was then that he saw something else. Something that looked quite a lot like a dragon, but was not one. It was huge, too huge…… And awfully long. It was then that the realization hit poor Dolodana! It must have been one of those creature’s fangs that managed to fell him!」
A sad atmosphere spreads through the room as everyone realizes what is about to come. The defeat and death of the great hero. Here I need to use my imagination a little bit, but I do believe that it won’t be anything that far away from the truth.
「His arm has been eaten away. Same for the huge portion of his side. The evil poison starts to course through his veins, and the brave Hero screams as his body starts to decay from within!」
「Ooohhh, no way……」
「Do you happen to know the pain of not being able to hide anywhere? The kind of severe pain that permeates not only your body, but your mind and your soul as well? The kind of pain that attacks the heart last, when there is nothing else left to attack, and only then granting you the release of death……?」
At the current moment I do not need to worry about being poisoned by Goldunine and dying from it. What’s more, I can turn that poison into a potent steroid that gives me a boost to my fighting abilities. However, how does it feel to have Goldunine’s poison coursing through your body and eating away at it? I do not happen to possess any knowledge about that.
No, that’s not it. I wonder if this is the effect of the Curse of Poison debuff? Is that how it feels for the NPC to get afflicted with it? Is that how the defenders of Rabbitz felt on a daily basis while they were sitting in those tunnels?
「Goldunine infects your body, creeps her way through it, cracking it and crushing you from within. Until your life is no more. Until its light is effectively snuffed out.. And when she is done with you, there is nothing left to gather or bury. I have no idea what that poison is…… But I know this: it takes an immense amount of hatred and rage to create something so potent and deadly.」
Because I have not proceeded with that particular Unique Scenario EX yet, there is also the issue of that other Goldunine to consider. But I guess that the Giants would not react all too well if they learned about that, so it’s better to keep them in the dark about that subject. That way they won’t commit anything too stupid. Or at least I hope they won’t.
Ooohhh, Dolodana, my man! I wonder just what kind of wind you are going to bring with yourself?
It is going to be great if it turns out to be a Goldunine with four giant snakes. I am surely going to learn a ton from this experience. Next time we meet, Goldunine, you’re not going to ambush me! And I’m going to be the one who is going to crush you, not the other way around!
Surely, the Giants have also realized that fact just now, for I could feel that their tension have dropped significantly. There were only a handful of Giants who refrained from openly showing their reactions..
「But it was at that time that Aradval’s flame flickered and disappeared.」
But I would like to say here that I do not think that it was an entirely bad or sad thing. We were able to meet and talk like that mostly because such a thing happened, so it’s not all that bad once you start thinking about it!
From here on out, we are heading towards the climax of the story. And you’d better hold on tight, because it is going to be an exciting finale!
