「With more and more blood spilling out from the Hero’s body, the more energy and vitality he would lose as well. Soon, he would not have enough energy to even stand on his own two feet. However, it was not only his flesh that was weakening and decaying. His fighting spirit was decreasing at an alarming pace as well…… Even the flames of his passion, previously burning brighter than any other light, were starting to diminish from his chest only to be ultimately snuffed out in the end.」
Honestly, I have no idea or clue how that Dolodana fellow lived his life, how he fought his battles and how exactly he came to die in one of them. Or if he even actually died in battle, for one thing. However, there is one thing that I know for sure. Or to be more specific, both Goldunine and I know about it. …… We both know what he decided to do in the end, when he knew all too well that he simply would not make it.
「But you! You, brave warriors who fear not death! You have always kept your weapons close to you, cherishing them greatly! Which is also why your weapons are always close to you as well, and that they are cherishing your lives in equally great manner! …… You want proof of that!? Just take a look at yourselves and at your comrades! You believe in your weapons and you leave your lives in their care on a daily basis! And in order to repay your trust, those weapons continue to fight for you and protect your lives for as long as they won’t break and shatter to pieces! And it wouldn’t be possible for anyone else! It’s precisely because it’s you, you lot!」
I can also see that all of the Giants gathered here can agree that the “Scourge From the West” is something that absolutely cannot be forgiven for its transgressions. And if that’s so, then maybe I should follow up on that and see what will become of stirring them just in the right way a little bit.
「I’m afraid that any language of this world lacks words to fully express the brilliance of Dolodana of Aradval and his exploits. However, I do believe that his actions speak louder here than a thousand words could! No! They speak louder than any words could ever hope to speak up!」
The gathered giants turned their eyes towards the weapons that each and every single one of them was holding. For a moment there was complete silence here…… and then the sudden realization hit them like a hammer to the back of the head. Yes, that realization was so obvious that there would never actually be any mistaking it.
「–––––– Are you simply going to give up here? Or will you try to do something about it?」
Thud! It was the sound of Aradval Rebuild being unsheathed and its scabbard falling to the ground with a loud and unpleasant noise. At this very moment the eyes of everyone present are glued towards Aradval. It was as if it was the actual sword that was speaking here, and not me, its wielder.
「Do you really wish to give up just like that, Dolodana? Are you, the Great Hero and my wielder, simply going to give up without trying to fight just like that? Because I will let you know, should you succumb to despair here and lower your weapon, you are not going to be the only one who will bring shame onto yourself. You are going to make me give up as well, to bring shame to my name for all eternity to come……」
Thud! The scabbard of the Aradval Rebuild hits the floor once more, but this time around doing it harder and louder, as if it wanted to crack the very ground open in an act of protest.
「So what if Aradval got broken just like that! Though broken, Aradval can still fight all the same as always! …… So what if Aradval’s flames started to diminish and they cannot reach the enemy!? Even without that, Adadval can still fight all the same! Now answer me this, Dolodana! Is it really that you can’t fight anymore!? Answer me, oh Great Hero! Now take me in your hands once more and get back up on your feet! We still have a job left to do that needs being done!」
The jet-black blade that was pulled out of its hiding shines gently surrounded by the giants, as if it was trying to display the flames that were being lit deep inside of the weapon’s core. It may be an entirely different weapon from the original Aradval, mainly because at the time I had quite a bit of trouble with restoring it in the right way, but the fact still remains: it is still the very same Aradval, although in a slightly different form. And that should be all the necessary insurance that one might need in here.
「And so Dolodana stood up. Even though the thought of just slipping away into nothingness was so tempting and sweet, he still chose to resent it and follow his own path. And so he held onto the rest of Aradval that remained! Now, remember this and learn from this example, you lot! A true Hero is someone who rejects an easy way out and still laughs in the face of death, even if that death is certain and creeping its way right around the corner!」
「Yes! Yes, he’s right……!!!」
「It was at this moment that four giant snakes lunged at Dolodana all at once! There was blood dripping from every corner of his decaying body. He could feel the tremendous heat that was starting to eat him from the inside. He could sense that he was only going to push forward on the very little fumes of life that he had left! But even so! He still chose to push forward, braving through the pain and turning those fumes into burning fuel that would allow him to go down in the blaze of glory!」
Umm, guys? I do realize that this is exciting as all hell, but can you tone it down a notch? And maybe sit down? We are not alone here, so have you even considered the fact that you might actually be bothering others around you? No? Now you know.
「Dolodana knew that his weapon would no longer be able to reach Goldunine. He knew that more than anyone else! But still, he chose to fight instead of running away with his tail between his legs! You have to remember here: victory and glory are not always the same thing! And even though Dolodana might have suffered defeat that also ended his life…… There was a shiny light of salvation in that defeat! And to find salvation in face of ultimate despair and defeat…… This is what we should all know as a flawless victory!」
Alright, guys!? This is starting to be a little bit ridiculous here, don’t you think!? I know that it’s something that is really important to you, but you really need to chill! Otherwise someone is bound to get hurt or to do something very stupid! And we wouldn’t want that to happen, now would we!?
