ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 537: An Orchestra Just For You PART 17 Part 1
「Here! Take it! All the money that I have! Now go ahead and do the deed! Elk, I’m counting on you! Don’t fuck this up!」
「Ahh! Ahaah! Money! So much money! Great! Pleasure doing business with you, as always!!」
If one wants to enjoy an easy and pleasurable life, one needs to command three basic powers: physical power, mental power, and financial power. Without those three elements it is impossible to brave whatever horrors and difficulties this life might want to throw at you.
I should probably mention that there is also one more power to this whole set, and that would be social, or communicative power. However, this power is not all that important as the other three, so you can easily get by in life without it. I mean, if you have great communication skills then you are more than set up for success, but even without that, as long as you have the other three there is nothing that can possibly threaten you.
That being said, what I needed to do right now was to undergo a major remodeling of my skills. That is why I decided to feed Elk all of that money I could spare plus some extra materials to boot. I would like to call this action of mine a Money Assault Bomb, but that would simply sound way too cheesy, don’t you think?
Now, don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against Critical Speed – Bradion –. It’s an amazing skill and I would not exchange it for anything else. If you use it at just the right moment and manage to control it just fine, you are able to step into the territory of the Maximum Speed, which was more than enough for me to be able to destroy Siegwurm’s two horns at the same time. This alone is more than enough to attest the strength of this skill.
However, since this skill is really freaking specific in its uses, I cannot really afford to use it in my daily routine or during Player Versus Player types of battles. What’s more, turning around with this thing being activated is so hard that it’s nigh impossible to do, and you can’t really connect that many skills with it. Which is a real shame, because just think of the possible combinations that I could do here!
So, I guess that for a while now the Critical Speed – Bradion – is going to be put aside, and while I retain the original skills of mine, I am going to experiment with some other useful combinations. Yes! That’s right! You could even call it a skill diet!
「Ufufufufufu, money! Money! So much money! So much of it that I literally don’t know what I should do with it all! I think I’m actually going crazy~!」
「Was that supposed to be a pun, or something? Because if it was, then it was really not all that good to begin with, you know?」
I know that Elk is supposed to act like Emul’s older sister here, but seeing her just jumping around and running as if she just finished chugging down a six pack of energy shots makes for one hell of an image that just completely destroys that dignified image of hers. Now I have to wonder…… What about the skill connecting procedure? Is it going to be alright? There won’t be any “connection failure” possibility here, right?
At the current moment my level exceeds one hundred thirty, so it means that gaining new levels is going to be really difficult with the current enemies that are available to me. Of course, I could always go and look out for the new sources of huge EXP, but that solution would take a lot of time and not be all that efficient in the first place. Plus, it might turn out that my new skills are not going to be all that EXP-farming friendly. It’s only a slight possibility, but a possibility nonetheless.
Not to mention the changes that come with updates every now and then.
First of all, I see that the User Interface has been remodeled and improved. Now, this would be no big deal in and out of itself, if not for a certain fact: right now we have some new categories in the status window, as well as the improved information about stat points…… So in the end it was nothing like the groundbreaking improvement, but it was something that should be more than enough to scratch that nasty itch that some people might have been feeling while playing this game. Good work, Amachi Ritsu! Improving the User Interface is the first step towards good changes that are sure to follow down the road!
Next up on my priority list is to acquire some new skills. Apparently the Three Digit Skills are not only the natural evolution of the previously obtained skills, but there are some effects and abilities that can only be learned and utilized properly thanks to the Three Digit Skills. I mean, it’s a thing to be expected here, because what else would you expect from Skills that cannot be obtained from the get-go and require some preparatory work and tremendous financial means and materials to obtain? Also, not that I’m complaining or anything, but it would surely be nice for me to acquire some skills that would be Area of Effect. Maybe something like Gravekeeper Wezemon’s Thundercloud? Yeah, that would surely be nice……
And then finally, after I carefully handpicked the skills that would be combined this time around…… It was time for Elk to work her magic on me! That’s right! It was the “High Connection” time!
「It’s been a while since the amount of money that I have on me dropped to basically a single digit…… Yeah, it’s a thrilling sensation, if only it was a sensation in the good kind of way. Unfortunately, I’m not all that huge of a fan of that.
「Ahh, the fur of the Vorpal Bunny is so fluffy and nice to the touch! Care to see for yourself?」
You are only saying that because I’m paying you ungodly amounts of money! And while we are on the subject, what about the customer service in this joint!? I’m paying so much, so I at least deserve some tea or cookies! Now! Give me my goddamn tea! On the double!
「Ahh, would you like to eat some manju while we are at it? They are quite exquisite in taste, I’ll let you know~.」
「Yeah, thanks. I’ll have some since you are offering.」
「I would like to get one myself, please!」
「For you, Emul, it will be three hundred money, upfront.」
「How come I have to pay for it, and Sanraku—san does not have to!?」
I guess it’s just how the policy of this shop goes. Even if you are a relative, you cannot possibly hope to receive a discount, no matter what you do.

「If you are talking about that doll that you have ordered me to make, then yes, it’s quite ready.」
It may be that the reinforced gun-pipe from Catzeria had a big benefit to the soberness, rather than the blacksmith Break-related work, but here with the more ornamental Efuree-related craftsmanship. Imagine that the jeweler can process jewelry items into threads…… as well as clothes. In other words, it turns out that various ores can also be incorporated into the doll-making process, used as the core ingredient from which the accessory is going to take all of its power.
