ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 547: The Ordeals Before the Hardships Part 1
To make a long story short, I had a nasty fallout with ShangriLa Frontier. It’s not that I wanted to quit ShanFro for good there, but…… It’s just like with a dysfunctional marriage. I just needed some serious timeout to just think things through. Yeah, call that a separation if you must.
Usually I try to keep a calm and composed approach while playing video games. And if there is some game that forces me to take a break from it, it means that it really managed to do something that essentially threw me off. Sure, I can yell and I can act unreasonable, but when the MMORPG throws the boss and the event like that onto you, when basically the boss pulls new moves out of his ass on the spot and basically does what Orchestra can do…… That’s where I draw the line. And that’s why I wanted to quit: in order to cool my head and think things through.

I knew it, you are truly the Apostle of Shitty Games deep down inside you, am I right? You may try to hide it, or pretend that it was never a part of you, but your true colors end up showing there either way. Just give me a fucking break here, you absolute bitch, seriously! At the rate in which things were going, I was on my way to clear the Orchestra for good! But no, you just had to go there and snatch that victory from my hands just so you could spite me, didn’t you!? Therefore! This is not defeat! This is merely a tactical retreat! Yes, that’s right! This is all a part of my strategy!
So I log out of ShangriLa Frontier, put the game package away back on the shelf so it would not tempt me in any way, and then got out of my room and went down into the kitchen. I went straight towards the fridge and poured myself a cup of barley tea, and then I gulp it down all in one go while scavenging the fridge for something to snack on.

Where was it? Where? Where did I go wrong? Where did I make a mistake? Was there some sort of a choice alongside the way that I failed to notice? Some sort of a hidden branching path? I was pretty angry here, but I was still doing my best to try and think about it, to analyze the situation and come to some sort of a conclusion. However, I was unable to see that solution, no matter how hard I tried. So for the time being I decided not to think about it too much. Nothing good would come out of it, so for now let’s just grab something to eat and try to regain my cool.
At the very least I know that the Orchestra itself is out of the equation here. Because no matter what, it still remains a glorified music player, and nothing is ever going to change that fact. You just press a button and it starts to play that god damned music of its, and that’s that. But…… would there be some sort of an effect if there was a stop button that you could press anytime you want? Nah, I highly doubt that. It’s something that a game like ShanFro would never do. Especially such a salty Unique Scenario EX as this one.
…… Shit man, I don’t even know anymore! Trying to deduce something in here is like trying to guess the content of the book from the cover art alone! According to what Takeda-san once said, it seems that about eighty percent of questlines in various shitty games tend to have something in common with the names of the quests associated with the events that are going on, but in recent years that percentage was becoming lower and lower, reaching the point where the quest itself can have virtually nothing to do with the name that was assigned to it. I only go to show that shitty games have fallen really low these days if you were to ask me.
But alright, at least let’s try to think seriously about the events that has transpired up until this point in time. Right off the bat we can rule out the events itself that took place within the theatre itself, as they should be of little importance here. There is little strategic meaning to them, but there is a certain equation that needs to be considered next. Unique Scenario EX = the scenario focused around the particular Unique Monster. Judging by my past experiences so far, this principle should be applied to the Orchestra without fail as well. In other words this Unique Scenario Ex should actually be the study of a particular character.
[Just “whose” scenario is this supposed to be……? Who is the character that makes the appearance here?」
First and foremost, this is the matter that I need to solve, and I need to solve it fast. Just who am I fighting against here? The music box that is built in the wall? Or maybe the owner of this entire fucking Orchestra?
Could it actually be that blasted Diva? Because she is suspicious as all hell, so it wouldn’t be that improbable, but…… What about that name that was displayed on the Music Player? …… Eringi, was it? I know for sure that there was a name Eringhi Zipper Hole written on the music player out there. But this could very well be the name of the artist that performs the music that is being played. So the assumption that the Diva = Eringhi is not all that entirely out of the question here.
Hypothesis Number One: Orchestra might in reality be some sort of a projecting item possessing power unlike of which I have never even seen before in this game. This theory may initially seem improbable, but is that really the case here? Because if you ask me, there is a whole lot of probability to it. Or is there? Don’t I already know something that basically obliterates that theory?
[Cold. Let’s go back and start over……」
Next thing up on the list, we have the Conquest Dolls. Long story short, they are the ones who own the place where the Orchestra is being housed, so it automatically makes them a valid suspect on my list. It would be weird if they had nothing to do with this. They might even have a clue about the Orchestra or something alongside those lines…… but that’s honestly more of a wishful thinking on my end.
Hypothesis Number Two: the Conquest Dolls are capable of interfering with the Orchestra in some way or to some extent. Or maybe they do not wish for the Orchestra to be defeated and are actively sabotaging the players from succeeding. But this theory is even more improbable than the first one.
