ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 549: Love Jolt Counter Part 1

THUD! With that loud of a sound Iwamaki-san sat down, or rather fell right on top of the small yet comfortable office chair that was placed behind the shop’s counter. Then he put his elbows on the chair’s armrests, supported his chin with his hand and cocked his head slightly to the side. Right about now he looked like a true annoyed boss who was about to grill his employee about the stuff that was supposed to be already done, or yell at them because of a huge problem that arose from their seemingly small mistake.

「…… So? What’s the situation, Rei-chan?」

「T-The situation is…… F-For now, I guess that nothing has changed? A-At least for now. T-That is why I came here, actually T-To try and make a change!」

「Hmm~? Is that so~? You don’t say~?」

While it was true that Rei chose this place as a place where she wanted to hand Rakuro the ticket specifically because she considered Rock Roll to be a kind of safe space for her, she also did not expect that Iwamaki-san would be glaring at her like that so much right now. This was making her slightly regret her decision, as she wished that she could be as far away from this place as humanly possible right about now.

However, while it is true that Rei wanted to hand the ticket to Rakuro as soon as possible, this needed to be done in a proper and right manner. This needed to be as natural as possible, otherwise Rakuro might actually start to suspect that there might be some ulterior motive behind that. And that was something that Rei would like to avoid at all cost if she could help it.

Needless to say, the best and the most natural way to do it would be simply to start the conversation smoothly and efficiently: “So, about the ShangriLa Frontier……”

「Say, Iwamaki-san? Is it true that the Duck Games is going to have a booth at this year’s JGE?」

「JGE!? As in, Japan Game Expo!?」

「Y-Yesh!? That’s right!?」

Talk about a surprise completely out of the blue! When Rei asked Iwamaki-san that question, Rakuro turned toward her on the spot and almost shouted that question out loud, to which Rei responded with a surprised shrill all on her own. However, Rakuro apparently failed to register Rei’s reaction, because almost right after that he turned his gaze towards Iwamaki-san instead.

「I mean, yes, of course they will have a booth out there. After all, Duck Games are one of the most established exhibition teams during the JGE, so it’s only natural, don’t you think? I also heard that they announced something really big and flashy just the other day…… Can you believe it? Isn’t that kind of insane?」

「That was a terrible thing…… But I have heard that it was the title that was simultaneously developed alongside some other game that was a joint effort between the companies, so I guess that’s hardly the reason to be surprised here.」

「Yeah, and that is why I have not yet decided if I want to buy it or skip it…… Up until recently I was thinking of myself as a huge ShanFro main, so that game has been eating the vast majority of my spare time……」

「Couldn’t the same thing be applied to GalaTora all the same? Or even more, that statement seems more suitable to GalaTora than anything else, if you were to ask me.」

「When it comes to GalaTora, that’s a rather skimming thing, or rather it’s own thing. But this thing should be completely different, right? And its own thing as well! Isn’t that what makes it all exciting!?」

「Yeah, I guess so. And it would pretty much confirm one of the theories that are out there in regards to this, the one about the map enlargement. It’s as if they were trying to come up with an excuse to create a world in which only Giants are expected to survive, huh?」

At the current moment Rakuro and Iwamaki-san were being completely swept away in their own world and they were busy talking about a topic about which Rei had no idea what it was all about. For a moment out there Rei was at a loss, not knowing what to do or how to react. But then she saw that Iwamaki-san was casting her a short glances here and there, all the time being engrossed in the conversation. It took the girl a moment to realize that it was all for her just now, that this conversation was the golden opportunity that she’s been waiting for.

And therefore, the time to act was now or never!

「Ah, UMM!」

「Hmm?」

「Ahh, now that you mention it, I have almost forgotten about it! Can you imagine that? Actually, there is something that I have given to Rei-chan before, hoping that she would pass it to you when the opportunity would present itself.」

When Rei was practicing her martial arts, there would occasionally be moments when her senses would be heightened to their very limits and she would feel like a kind of sixth sense was developing inside of her. And now she was feeling the same sort of sensation.

「N-Now that you mention it, you are right! I indeed do have something like that on me right now! I-I got it from Iwamaki-san and he told me to take a good care of it!」

「Hmm? Hooo……! Seriously now!? Speak of the devil and it doth appear, huh!?」

「Hey, when you put it that way it actually makes it sound kinda bad and shady, don’t you think? Besides, I got it from one of my buddies, and they told me to keep it.」

「Now then, what could that thing be? By the way, this is not some sort of a prank, right? Huh? What’s this? A ticket? Some sort of a Premium Ticket? Oh wow, I am sure that if you were going to sell it to someone or on the Internet, you would easily get a one hundred thousand yen for it or even better.」

「Hey, you surely got guts, kiddo. To be saying shit about reselling the gift that someone not only went to great length to obtain, but also to be generous enough to give you.」

「It was a joke, obviously! A joke! I would never do that! I actually hate resellers, because those guys tend to destroy the business.」

「Alright, as long as you understand, it’s all good.」

And once again, the conversation was hanging on the brink of actually switching onto the subject that Rei was unable to understand or follow properly. However, now was not the time to give up or allow for the conversation to be derailed like that! It was at this moment that Rei decided that now was the time to screw the Courage Gauge and bury it deep in the ground, taking proper action instead. And so she just took a step forward, opened her mouth and allowed her true feelings to just flow out of them before she actually knew what she was doing.

「T-That’s right, yes…… I-If you would like, Hizutome-kun…… W-Would you like to…… like to…… g-go for this event t-together…… T-Together with me, that is……?」
