ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 554: Impossible Unreality One Shot Part 1
And just like that, we came to the venue where the JGE was about to talk about one hour before the general crowd would be let inside.
「I guess that the whole artificial island is going to be one huge exhibition space, right……?」
「Right next to each other…… Shoulder to shoulder…… Sitting down…… Ahh! Umm, this is……! T-That’s right! When you talk about the sheer size of this place, it is really huge, huh!?」」
Yes, it certainly is huge and wide. Actually, this place is insanely huge and wide! Specifically, it’s wide enough to see the whole thing without having to zoom in so much on a satellite map. As expected, it is a state-of-the-art place using state-of-the-art technology…… The next generation man-made island. It seems that connected man-made islands are also becoming a huge hit in the USA as well. I wonder what they are going to do next with this thing? Create a whole archipelago of islands just like that? That would most certainly be a sight to behold.
「It looks like there are even buses passing through the exhibition halls? …… Okay, so where should we go for the time being? Should we go and check out the ShangriLa Frontier booth first and foremost?」
「Y-Yes, I think that would be for the best right now. Together…… L-Let’s do this together! And by that, I mean games, obviously!」
In the end, it seems that Saiga-san is unable to contain her excitement for seeing the ShangriLa Frontier booth. And I mean, it’s something you would expect from a player such as her. Some things cannot be hidden away or masked by other behavior. Especially with the things that one tends to enjoy greatly. So it was not really all that much of a surprise that she wanted to go there right off the bat. And that’s how we decided on our very first attraction to go and see. And as I would turn out in just a moment, ShangriLa Frontier’s booth was the place where the vast majority of people with special tickets were headed towards.
「AR technology really is amazing, oi!」
「S-Sieg… Siegwurm……!」
Yes, that’s right. Once the bus had reached the place where the ShangriLa Frontier’s booth was supposed to be located, we were greeted by a huge AR image of a very familiar Dragon King, reaching all the way from the ground towards the ceiling. Siegwurm, the Heavenly Emperor, one of the seven Unique Monsters, the memory of which was still pretty much vivid inside of my mind. And let me tell you, this Siegwurm was exactly like that one inside of the game, up to the very last detail. However, it seems that it was only the glorified decoration made with the AR technology, because upon seeing either me or Rei it did not say anything. I mean, of course it would not do that. Because right now we were not Sanraku and Saiga-0, but rather Saiga Rei and Hizutome Rakuro.
「For the time being, let us have a look at that special NPC artbook or whatever it is that they are selling here and then……」
「Ah!」
Just like that, my gaze turns towards the corner where all of the goods were being displayed for sale. And then I saw it. I saw it, and almost right away I froze in place. Then Rei also seemed to notice that I froze up and followed my gaze with her own…… and let out a brief scream herself. Perhaps she just noticed the cause for which I have frozen still here.
It seems that the main theme must have been changed somewhere down the road, but for them to actually be selling this kind of art book…… There is a technique for selling stuff like that that involves displaying some of the illustrations as an example. Apparently, the same is true for the ShanFro art book, and these illustrations are without a doubt the work of the illustrators that are working on the game itself. And you can see here that each one of those illustrations is being drawn with a very distinctly different style……
「The title for those illustrations read…… “The Gravekeeper’s Maiden”, “Heavenly White Cloth”, “King of the Giants and the Knight”……」
Ehh? Oh well, yeah, uhm, I guess? I mean, that’s about correct for the first picture, I believe.
I have not really witnessed that scene by myself, but it was the picture that was illustrating a lonely woman in mourning standing in front of a gravestone with a large sword stuck in the ground right next to it. And that sword…… Yeah, I remember that. Very vividly and very violently.
Uhhh, yeah, ahh, oh, that’s right. What do we have in the second picture here?
That scene I also was not able to witness with my own eyes, but it was depicting a man wearing almost a Halloween-like garb, and there was also a woman dressed in white clothes that almost seemed to be unfinished to me. But yeah, I remember those two as well. And there was also violence involved in our brief meeting. Lots and lots of violence.
Hahaha, ahhh…… Fuck. Yeah, I remember that. Now, onto the third illustration!
Now this scene, I remember seeing that scene for sure…… Is this somewhere from before Fiftsia? Maybe Elevental? Anyways, the illustration was depicting a Paladin-like person kneeling down before the huge sword-wielding statue.

At that moment, the two of us gently look at one another, Rei-san and I. No, it’s not actually like that. Strictly speaking, we were just looking away from those images right in front of us, so the result of that simply had to be that we were to look at one another. But I guess that this makes the end result about the same, right?
No, you see, that is…… That’s because…… because ……… That was not my intention here! Some of those pieces presented the graphics from the Old World, but some of them were from the New Continent as well! Now one has to wonder why they would actually take that particular selection of images to illustrate here? But that third piece was definitely back from Elevental, right? What’s more, it was the place where Rei-san and I used to frequent quite a lot because of the certain circumstances on Rei’s end from around that time.
「I-I…… I guess that there are things like that in this game as well……」
「Mysterious mourning woman and mysterious white hood are not the same person, let’s say that with all due certainty……」
No, I mean, there are about seven more samples, and maybe there is such a coincidence … Wow, this picture titled “Sword Champion” seems to be drawn by a very familiar person……
