Yeah, no matter how you might look at it, the person depicted there is definitely Your Sister, Rei-san…… No, for the sake of my own peace of mind, let’s just assume that it is someone else. Yes, let’s do just that. Ahh, but those other two look really fine and wonderful. As for that one with a familiar person…… Yeah, no comment on that subject.
「Oh well, let’s try not to think too much about it for now. Instead, let’s take a look at the price tag on this thing, shall we? How much is it for this artbook?」
Hoo, it’s around six thousand yen…… Wait, isn’t that a little bit too expensive!? It totally is, isn’t it! What kind of a price tag is that, even!? But still…… I can already feel the urge to buy it growing inside of me! Yes, I must buy it! No matter the cost! This thing shall be mine!
Now, here’s the deal. I am just your typical high school student, alright? I’m not someone who operates huge sums of money, so handling a ten thousand yen bill is something I am hardly even familiar with! However, I could feel both experience and confidence in the way that Saiga-san reached out towards her wallet and pulled the bill from inside of it. Uwah, that’s cold! What’s with that sudden coldness!? Is this the feeling that capitalism gives you!? How could this be!? How could someone operate so much money so smoothly and without a single issue!?
With just that, one of the strongest trump cards of Japanese capitalism has disappeared all at once, but I was actually willing to make an expense like that here from the very beginning. I mean, it’s not like I would be able to hold onto this thing forever, you know……? Also, I really like the things that I see in those illustrations, which should mean that there is little to no problem with that, right? Oh, and what’s that? You can even get the portrait of your own character printed out here? Hmm, how do you do this? Oh? You simply log in with that device here? Oh, and what’s this? Background? Pose? Equipment? Whoa, talk about a neat feature! Heck, you can even use the places your character has been to, the enemies you have encountered, and the equipment you have or have had to customize this thing!
Okay, so for starters, let’s do this, and then this…… Kukukuku, now let’s make this thing face this way…… Then we choose one of the preset poses…… And that’s that? Is it really over? No, I think that this pose might be even better here……
「Alright, I’m done…… And just look at this masterpiece!」
The background of the picture consists of Sanraku surrounded by a large number of Crystal Scorpions, dead in the center of the Sigmania Frontline Valley. Needless to say, Sanraku in this picture is standing atop of the Crystal Scorpions as you would do on a throne. The title is “Glory of the Moment”…… Yeah, because even though it looks like I am winning here, being surrounded by those Crystal Scorpions means that you are about to die in a horrible and painful way.
One card like that costs about five hundred yen…… I wonder if I can make another one, I mean, there is technically no queue behind my back. Do we want to make a fully-blown Orchestra body pillow as a sign of good luck for the future? Oh well, this idea is really…… hmm?
「Huh? What the……?」
Huh? Did I choose to change the background? No, I’m pretty sure that I did not…… So why is it that there is a monster selection screen right in front of my eyes? Could it be that I switched it by accident?
「Hmm? Hmm?」
What is this, a bug? Or is there something wrong with this machine? Is the background registered as a monster object? You can scale the theater in the background, right?
In other words, if you do this…… Whoa! Thanks to that strange bug, the strangest of pictures was about to be born under my hands!
「And what the hell do you expect me to do with that kind of a problem, huh……?」
No, wait a minute here…… If you think about it really carefully, there are only two players, including myself, who managed to encounter the Unique Monster Orchestra in battle, right? So, does that mean that only Mirei and I are the ones who can get into trouble here? I cannot help but to wonder about that.
When it comes to me, I am that kind of man who is more or less fine with all the various kinds of bugs that might pop up in games every once in a while, and once they pop up I tend to either tolerate them or try to find a way to use them to my advantage, but…… Oh! Wait a moment! I think that I just happened across some great ideas!
「If you were to think about it calmly and rationally, this kind of a mount is probably the best kind of mount that we could possibly hope for here…… And that’s exactly why!」
When it comes to this handy gadget, it should theoretically allow the players to place the monsters that they have encountered in it, as long as the account with which the character is linked has the information about the given monster. Which means more or less that your character needs to encounter the monster first inside of the game for this thing to work properly. And if that is the case, then there are probably some monsters out there that only I, or strictly speaking Sanraku, is able to reproduce simply because of the merit of having met some monsters that the rest of the playerbase can only speculate about at the current moment.
Siegwrum, The Heavenly Emperor. The Gravekeeper Wezaemon. Nightprowler Luukan (Shadow Version). Goldunine the Inexhaustible (both the powered up version as well as the weak-ass version). Kutanid of the Abyss. Orchestra of the Gloomy Melody. And the last Unique Monster whose existence was so far only confirmed by the name displayed on the monitor in that spooky, horror-like place…… Weissash the Immortal.
With the biggest monsters in the back, which is: Siegwrum, the Heavenly Emperor, Kutanid of the Abyss, and Nightprowler Luukan, the rest of them were shifted towards the front of the picture. Here we have: Orchestra of the Doom Melody, Goldunine the Inexhaustible, Gravekeeper Weathermon and Vysache the Immortal, since all of them were relatively human-sized. But because of my own personal grudge against Orchestra, I shrunk it even smaller, making it pretty much a handheld size. Just you wait and see! One of these days you are going to be dancing around the palm of my hand!
「Hah! Is this perfect or what? Sometimes my own genius is seriously scaring me……」
I shall name that thing…… Oh! I know! How about “The Observer of the Seven Stars”? If my memory serves me correctly, that should be the title that ShangriLa Frontier grants to those who took part in all seven of the Unique Scenario EXs, right?
Yeah, that sounds about right. Hmm, I could theoretically print this thing out into a postcard size for only five hundred yen here, but something deep down inside of me is telling me that a thing like that deserves to be a little bit more luxurious.
「Ah, oh yeah, that’s right! Which reminds me, Rei-san. I know that it might be sudden, but…… Huh? Rei-san? What are you even……?」
「…… Ah! N-No……! I-I mean… this is… umm……!!!」
All of a sudden, I felt this strange and unexplainable urge to just glance sideways, towards the place where Rei-san was supposed to be. But lo and behold, she was not there. Instead, she was back at the cash register, currently in the process of buying the highest-priced hologram stand (about ten thousand yen per hologram stand). I know that this is real life and not some sort of a comedy flick, but our respective timings could not possibly be better here.
God damn you, Capitalism! God damn you all to hell!
