ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 564 Part 1
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 564: One Man Rouge On Stage Show Part 1
At the current moment the situation does not look all too good. Being besieged by two people at close range and two people at long range in a four versus one composition is not something that even a prodigy such as Rust would have been able to easily break out of. If it was the Bakumatsu Online, then it would have been a whole different story, since there one versus many was something that could happen on a daily basis. However, in the vast majority of games, as in real life, strength in numbers can directly correlate to the outcome of the battle and can make quite a bit of difference.
In other words, if we were to go on exactly as we are going now, with one versus many kinds of scenarios, there is a huge possibility that our “Rust” is going to suffer a crushing defeat. But such a scenario would have no chances of becoming true if it was not for the fact that the close-range and long-range pairs were acting so splendidly and coordinated their attacks and actions so well. Such level of synchronization is not something that can occur randomly, you know? It’s something that needs to be trained. It’s something that rabbits are particularly good at, not the interpersonal battles, but using their superior numbers to manage the battlefield accordingly. Honestly speaking, this fight right here might as well be called a raid battle, since many enemies fight a single enemy, and the condition of their equipment is going to be the deciding factor. That being said, raid boss battles are mainly NPC battles, which are really rare here in Nephilim Hollow.
No matter how good the player may be, the systems that govern the world of video games are always game-compliant. This means more or less that unless the right conditions are met for the situation to be different, the system is always going to rule certain situations in favor of the game. That being said, the Crimson Nephilim might as well be considered a human-sized NPC and treat it like a boss character, trying to apply anti-boss character tactics to it. And you cannot say with all certainty that they would not work here. However, even if we were to subtract all that, there is still a difference in skill to consider, and that can sometimes make all the difference in the world. Like right about now, for example. Sometimes, it is impossible to avoid hitting the ground at full speed.
…… But still, it’s not that anyone in particular is to be blamed for a situation like that. Because, you know, at the end of the day, this game is just that; a video game. So if we want to get real here, because of this thing being a game, there is no real benefit from trying too hard to win here. But at the same time, there is no use in trying to lose on purpose, either.
Certainly, if those people want to have a shot at defeating “Rust” in battle, the best way in which they would have to do it would be to keep on doing what they were doing up until that point in time. However, I get a feeling that those guys are not really going to be satisfied with a conclusion like that. And certainly, there are no rules that dictate that battles need to be fought in certain ways, unless they are gimmick battles, then that’s an entirely different matter. Therefore, I do not blame any of those guys for acting the way that they started to act. Not one bit……
「Ah! Won’t you look at that! The cage just collapsed all of a sudden!」
「And their timing on that action was off, as well! If they were to time it better, they might have gotten an extra hit or two in, but they did it, they have gained pretty much nothing……」
The way in which those guys created that cage must have been spontaneous in the first place, without them having discussed it beforehand. That’s why it was entirely possible that one of the close—range Nephilims might get bored of it or would grow impatient, and lo and behold! That’s exactly what happened here. One of them just broke the formation without any prior warning and charged towards the Crimson Nephilim in a straight line.
Could it be that this particular strategy proved to be too boring for him? Or maybe he was dissatisfied with the fact that things were going so smoothly up until that particular moment? Or maybe it was that he truly believed that he was going to be able to take out the Crimson Nephilim all on his own? It is something that only this person is going to know for sure. But it was also an action that certainly created an opening that the Crimson Nephilim needed to launch its counterattack. Which was bad for the other guys, because up until now they forced the Crimson Nephilim to stay on the defensive this whole time. And now……
「…… Did someone invite me here? Or could it be that I simply misheard things?」
「Huh?」
「No, if you were to take a closer look here, one of the close-range Nephilims is changing its position. And we are talking about the one that is being charged by the Crimson Nephilim. It looks to me as if it was looking for an opportunity to force the Crimson one into the close-range battle no matter what……」
Moreover, since the setup here was made in such a way that it would be possible for the gunmen to take their shots freely, right about now it all felt as though the Crimson Nephilim’s back were completely and wide open for any kind of attack that might be coming its way. And now for an interesting piece of trivia. Did you know that the number of the boosters installed on the Nephilims is just an illusion? Because they might not actually represent the true speed of any given unit. So in fact, any Nephilim might actually be slower or faster than it lets for everyone to witness. Such clever deception is also a tool that is only available for those with huge player skill.
Now what is going to happen? Is it going to aim at someone? Or maybe it is going to take that chance and try to escape to reposition itself? If this is a player who is exactly like Rust, it might honestly be either way here, there is no way to accurately predict that. If they were with a navigator like Mold, it would be more likely that they would try to pick up a fight and that they would be able to pull it off, but…… On your own such an option would be way too much of a hassle. You would need to have your eyes constantly glued to the back of your head, and you would have to think about a strategy that would always exceed a few steps ahead of everyone else.
