ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 571 Part 2
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 571: Only One Person Can Bask in the Glory Part 2
So in other words, no matter what you do, the billing won’t go away out of itself, huh…… Huh? And what’s that supposed to be?
I wonder what happened after the update has been implemented? After all, it was rumored to allow the players to engage in “fleet naval battles” between individuals, something that was not there before the update…… Yeah, I really want to go there and see that with my own eyes.
And just like that, we finally arrived at the Supernova booth, a place where a whole lot of both normal and special ticket holders seemed to be walking towards. We were about to go inside, but then we noticed that there were some strange devices placed right in front of the entrance.
「This place seems to be very similar to that ShangriLa Frontier’s booth……」
It seems to be a log in terminal, so does that mean that there will be some sort of privileges once we do just that……? Aha! I knew it!
「What happened? Is there something wrong?」
「…… No, it’s just that…… Oh yeah, now I understand it.」
「…… Hmm?」
While Rei-san looks as though there were a whole lot of question marks circulating around her head, we approach the booth and then take a look at one of the terminals that was put there. And perhaps it was all because we were the ones to make the first move, but all the other people gathered around the booth started to stare at us really hard, as if they were waiting for us to do something, so that they could observe what to do themselves.
「Umm, this is……」
「Rei-san. Take a look at this thing. What do you think it is?」
「Umm, let’s see…… This looks like some sort of a counter, maybe? And it’s spinning constantly and changing its value? Yes, so it’s a counter, right?」
Yes, I do believe that this is the case here as well. And I also suspect that the ever changing number is the number of actual people who came into this particular booth and logged in there using their mobile devices. And at the current moment…… Even though the counter is spinning at a tremendous speed, right about now it sits around the number of forty nine thousand nine hundred and twelve. So this means more or less that in the near future the counter would reach the number fifty thousand.
「Do you think that this is one of those classic competitions, like a first come first served type of a deal? Or maybe that the one who logs in on a particular number gets the prize……?」
Takeda-san once told me all about a competition like that. It is something so unique that virtually no one is able to resist the temptation of giving it a try, no matter if you are an oil baron or a high ranking politician. Apparently this type of competition was first installed at the very beginning of the twenty first century and it was supposed to give the competitors the feeling of equality in face of true randomness…… Or so Takeda—san heard, anyways. At the time I was wondering what was so special about it, but after seeing it up close…… Yes, I think that I can see the reason now. This kind of tension is not all that half bad. What’s more, I can say that it actually feels kind of addicting.
「First come…… First served……?」
「I mean, you see the counter, right? It means more or less that the people who log into this booth are trying to be the fifty thousandth person who does just that. And maybe it is done in such a way that the fifty thousandth person gets a reward of some sort from this. Hmm, but that’s not really first come first serve, huh……?」
Not to mention that this kind of competition is the one that does not have any specific demographic as its target group. So even if you are a small child who barely managed to learn how to operate a mobile terminal, or an old gramps who likes to care for bonsai trees in his spare time, you can give it a go. You can try to aim for the prize like a wild animal stalking its prey in the wild. Way to go, GalaTra! Your age group is so wide and so inclusive!
「When it comes to the terminals for the people with normal tickets, it takes about two minutes for the system to reset after one person logs in. There are about thirty terminals here in total. Now, when it comes to the special tickets terminals, we have about fifteen of them and the process may be somewhat faster than the normal ones……」
So this means that the competition is going to be decided on the very next cycle of logins, since at the current moment the counter sits at around forty nine thousand nine hundred and fifty.
「Kyuh, the number already exceeds forty nine thousand nine hundred seventy……!」
「–––––– There! Now is the time!」
As if on some sort of a strange que, all of the GalaTra users who stand on the side of the special tickets started to type in their login and passwords all at once! Oho! And what’s this? It seems that one of the older guys must have made a typo in his login credentials, because he collapsed onto his knees with a look of utter despair written all over his face! Yes, I get it, I completely understand. This is something that can really break your spirit in half and send you to a really dark place from which there may be no coming back.
「I don’t know who you are, and I don’t even care! But let me just tell you this! Don’t you dare to underestimate the typing speed of the people from the young generation, you absolute bastard!!!!!!!!! This is the true power of young people!!!!!!」
The only reason why I was able to spot this terminal in the first place here was because the way in which it was constructed was roughly the same as the ones in ShangriLa Frontier. What’s more, if this current terminal stays on the same screen for more than ten seconds or somewhere around that number, then you would be returned to the top screen right away. So then, once the terminal did just that and returned to the main screen, I pressed the place on the screen where the button was about to pop up after pre-reading its position and…… Alright! There we go! Login Successful! Now, what’s it going to be?
「Alright! And here it is! The results that you have been waiting for!」
「CONGRATULATIONS! YOU, SIR, HAPPEN TO BE OUR FORTY NINE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED NINETY NINTH VISITOR TODAY!!!!!!!!!」
「DAGH –––––––––––––––!!!!!!!!!」
It was at this moment that I dropped even further down from my knees. I mean like, what the actual hell, man!?
