In the end, the old man raised five of his fingers in the air, looking at me with anticipation. Five fingers? Does that mean that he wanted to give me five thousand yen for this thing? Yeah, I’m sure that was it. Are you serious? Now, believe it or not, I actually ended up refusing the offer. It may seem ridiculous to some of you, but that offer almost made my stomach upset. So anyways, we carried on while the old man looked as if his whole world was about to end right there right now. I’m sorry, old man, but reselling is really bad for the industry, you know!

All in all, our time inside of the Supernova booth was a tame truly well-spent. Because as a matter of fact, one of the staff members there advised me that if I ever happen to have the Augmented Reality-compatible headset in the future, I could use that to substitute it for a pseudo planetarium device. So, is this the way in which you can use this thing as well? God, technology truly is amazing, huh……?

「I think that the event is going to end pretty soon……」

「Yes, I guess that you’re right…… It was… it was really fun, you know?」

Needless to say, at the current moment my wallet was significantly lighter than when we first arrived here in the morning. But even though I ended up spending some money, maybe even a little bit more than I would have liked, I could say with all due certainty that I have had loads of fun here today. What’s more, it was actually impressive that I was able to witness the power of Capitalism firsthand like that, with that Diamond Badugamos doll causing someone to become so desperate that they wanted to throw real money at it…… but it was also true that the event was slowly but surely nearing its inevitable end. And just like that, after walking around the venue some more, the autumn day sun was slowly starting to set, signaling that it would be high time for us high schoolers to actually start heading home.

「It seems that there won’t be any special evening programs or events available, so what would you like to do now, Rei-san? Would you like to head back now?」

Is that so? Well, that’s great. Especially because in the second half of the day we were mainly visiting places that I wanted to visit. But all this time Rei-san did not complain even once, and she seemed to have had quite a lot of fun while we were going around various booths. Feeling a huge wave of relief washing over me, while we were passing through the exit gate from the venue carrying bags with us that were much heavier than when we initially came here, I could hear that the special ticket inside of my pocket started to make some strange noises once again.

The special ticket activated once more, and the mascot character of the entire JGE started to speak up once again. To its words, a huge bubble appeared from the hologram, and inside of that bubble small bubbles started to appear, each carrying a logo of the game developer’s logo inside of it. There was the Utopia bubble, Royale bubble, Supernova bubble……Wow, upon closer inspection it seems that we were able to visit quite a lot of places today, huh?

「CONGRATULATIONS! MEASUREMENT PROCESS IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETED! THIS VISIT ADDS A TOTAL OF SEVENTY FIVE POINTS TO YOUR OVERALL POINTS POOL! THAT’S A GOOD NUMBER, KEEP IT UP! AS AN ACHIEVEMENT REWARD HERE, WE WILL NOW GRANT YOU AN ITEM CODE THAT CAN BE USED IN THE GAME RELEASED BY ANY MANUFACTURER THAT YOU HAVE VISITED TODAY!!」

An Item Code, huh? I know for sure that the concept of Item Codes exists in Bakumatsu Online, but was there even a concept of Item Codes in ShangriLa Frontier, I wonder? I mean, I have always thought that ShangriLa Frontier was trying to keep real life separate from the game world. But maybe that’s no longer the case? I guess we are going to find out, eventually.

「Hey, Rei-san? This actually seems to be an item that can be used in ShangriLa Frontier.」

「Hyuh…… Y-Yes! Now that you said it, that really seems to be the case here! Umm, this is…… A Physical… Remodeling Pass? As in…… Physical body modification?」

To be perfectly honest, hearing the words “body modification” in the same sentence as “ShangriLa Frontier” is making me feel somewhat uncomfortable. I do not like the inclination it seems to be bringing with itself. Now, if it was about Bakumatsu Online, I would most probably end up laughing so hard that my face would start to hurt…… Because even if you were to modify yourself to be a fully—blown cyborg in this game, the others would most probably turn you into a freaking pin cushion and you would end up exploding because of your core suffering too much damage. So yeah, it would have been mighty fun, but that’s about it, really.

「Hm? What’s this? Function currently unavailable? Does that mean that there are some sort of conditions that must be met inside of the game in order for it to become available to the players……?

「The players are the existences related to the Gods of Old…… So maybe it is going to be something related to that particular subject?」
