It seems that both of us stayed inside of the bath way longer than we initially anticipated. And it seems that both of us thought about buying the other party some flavored milk as an apology gift. And what’s even funnier here is that we did not happen to buy the same kind of milk. This proved to be a little bit too much for the both of us, and we both burst into laughter at the same time.
「Kukukuku…… Say, Rei-san? Since both of us have flavored milk with us, how about we exchange it with one another?」
「Yes, I guess that you’re right. An occasion like that might not even come across us the second time like this.」
Now, originally I wanted to go back home right after the bath and wash my clothes, but now those plans have been changed. I mean, I’m not going to carry this bottle of milk all the way home, you know? And so we exchanged coffee milk and fruit milk with one another while laughing, forgetting even that disaster of an event that came over us today. Then we started walking to enjoy the complex facility that is just called a super public bathhouse.
「Since we are already here, how about grabbing something for dinner?」
「Yes, that sounds good to me.」
「Uwah, talk about a huge repertoire…… You can even get lost in all of this…… What are you going to take, Rei?」
「Umm, I…… Umm, what about you, Rakuro-kun? What will you have?」
「…… And that’s how infinite loops are created.」
「The Punching Machine gave me an error for some reason……」
「Umm, maybe it’s because the equipment is malfunctioning for some reason? I’m sure that we did not break anything…… right?」
「Please don’t ask me, because I don’t really know.」
「Welp, all that playing around made me feel pretty exhausted……」

「The train…… Is it coming soon? We’ve been waiting here for quite a while.」
「If the one that was supposed to arrive now won’t come…… Does that mean that we have to wait here for at least thirty more minutes!?」
Although it was a pretty unexpected stop on our way back, we finally managed to return to our hometown, even though it was later than we originally planned and we had to make a dash for the train that almost left us at the station. But from where we were now it was okay for us to go back home on foot, but since we managed to come across a taxi, we decided to use that instead. One last luxury at the end of the day.
「I mean, it’s already dark, so…… Yes, it’s better to use the taxi. That way you can arrive at home safe and sound, without having to worry about any incidents on your way back.」
「Yes, you are absolutely right……」
Rei was standing in front of the taxi while the driver opened the door for her. However, instead of getting in Rei turned around as if she made a sudden decision about something. She then approached me while I was going to turn around and start heading home myself……
「Umm, listen, Rakuro-kun…… If you don’t mind, then…… Umm, maybe we could…… together, some other time…… How about that? N-No! Umm, this is, No! We are going the same direction part of the way, so…… even if it is only for a little bit, it would be a shorter walk for you, so want to ride…… together? Umm, umm……」
「Ahh…… Is that really okay? Umm, Driver-san, can I get off somewhere alongside the way? Of course, I’ll pay my part of the fee…… Oh? I can? Great. Then I shall take you up on your kind offer.」
Thank you for your good intentions, Rei-san. Now then, Ladies first, as they say…… Ahh!

Hmm, I really wonder what those strange chills are. But anyways, today was really fun and we have managed to make some great memories. However, the identity of those mysterious chills would only hit us with full force tomorrow morning, not taking any prisoners in the process……

「Oh yes, this is most definitely a cold, no doubt about it.」
「Seriously? Like, no, seriously? A cold?」
「Honestly, this is exactly what you get for going back and forth between the sauna and the bath at this time of the year. So you have no one else to blame for this but yourself. But do not worry. I’ll buy you some cold medicine, you for now you just focus on resting and recovering, alright?」
「To think that my son would catch a cold right after one of my precious stag beetles passed away only recently…… Hang it there! You are going to make it!」
「Oh yeah, I can see that this family has a serious problem when it comes to their hobbies and taking proper care of themselves. But didn’t a similar story happen sometimes before? Like when dad went to fish for those oysters?」
「Well, you see, it was that kind of incident that we do not really want to talk about, especially after all of the stomach sensations that we had to go through…… But anyways, look what I have here! A Riot Blood Energy Drink plus some cold medicine!」
「Please put it away for the time being. We shall stick to the hot water until you get better. On that note, I shall contact the school that you are going to be taking a sick leave for today.」
「Sir…… Yes, sir……」

The Next Day
「The way it looks to me, you must have happened to catch a cold. Without a doubt.」
「Cough……Yes, it would seem that way.」
「For now we shall use hot compresses and plain cold remedies, that should be more than enough to get you out of it. Now, incidentally…… It seems that you came back home pretty late last night. …… Could it be that you managed to go all the way?」
「Go all the way……? ……!?!?!? WHAAAAT!?!?!? As if we would even do such a…… Cough, cough!!!」
「Oh my, could it be that I have assumed something wrong……? And here I thought that I would be able to make a great report to all of our relatives. But still, Rei. Right now you are down with a sickness, so you should not get yourself needlessly worked up like that.」

「Now, now. There is no need to get yourself so worked up needlessly. I will let the school know that you won’t be coming in today, so you can just take a break for today and relax.」
