ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 576 Part 1
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 576: Just Leave It To Us! When We Are On The Job, We Do It Perfectly Every Time! Part 1
Hey, did you know? There is an old Japanese saying that goes a little bit like this: idiots do not catch colds. Now, we COULD take that saying at face value and call it a day, but I personally do not think that this is quite right. I think that idiots DO catch colds. But here is the thing: idiots are simply too stupid to realize that they have actually caught a cold.
Now when it comes to me, I don’t think that I am stupid in real life, but if we talk about gaming stupidity, then yes. I am most definitely stupid. But that is exactly why I am able to just brave through the Status Abnormality: Cold instead of having to lie in bed the whole day and do nothing. If I were to just lie on my back and watch the spots on the ceiling, I would most probably go insane in about an hour or so.
And so I get out of my bed and turn on my VR system while secretly sipping on some delicious Riot Blood (that for some bizarre reason was just left here in my room by my parents without any supervision) with a straw that I had hidden here just in case I would ever need it. And I guess the time of need has come now. Next, once the system was all booted up I ejected the cube with ShangriLa Frontier from the console and after putting it back in its box I switched it to the one with the Galaxy Traveler. While the cube started up and its data was loading up while making quiet noises I chugged the rest of the Riot Blood and threw it into the trash can…… Yeah, Energy Drinks while having a cold might not be the best idea to do, but I need all the energy out there I can get if I am going to do this properly. So here we go! A healthy spirit is a healthy body! …… or so they say.
「Alright then, how about we get this show on the road, shall we?」
As I have mentioned before, Galaxy Traveler is a really specific game. For you see, in this game, the time goes on forward even if the player is not logged into the game and actively taking part in it. Now, if you were to leave the game for a prolonged period of time like I did, then you can almost be sure that once you decide to log in again, there is going to be only one thing that is going to greet you: a scene followed by the information that your entire crew of NPCs raised mutiny against you, which basically gives you a “Game Over” screen. But there is a way in which you can avoid this: by putting all of your crew in a Cryo Sleep and then storing them away in a safe space, which will allow you to basically start where you have left off the last time you were playing without any issues whatsoever. Now, if I remember correctly, I should have done just that the last time I was here, so let’s see and……
「Ah, well, well, well…… Look who it is! Badugamos, that little shit! …… Or not, let’s not do that right now. I do not have a dead wish at the current moment.」
Although I have managed to get some good rest and it seems that my body was on its way to make a full recovery pretty soon, I did not have the courage to take on the battle helm and go into a grueling battle just yet. Even taking the fact into account that there was Riot Blood coursing through my veins this very moment. The battle in this game is way too grueling and requires inhuman amounts of concentration to do properly, so going into it while having hazy vision and mind is a recipe for a sure-fire disaster. Now, technically there is no reason to be so overly-cautious and afraid of the in-game challenges, but even my Riot Blood—doped brain seems to be telling me that I should avoid needless combat if I can help it. After all, it is slow and steady who wins the race. So let’s take things slow and easy, enjoying ourselves to the fullest in the process, shall we?
It’s fine. It’s fine, really. I am sure that I have made the right decision here. What’s more, I strongly believe for my actions to be the correct ones. That being said, those dolls that I happened to win in the lottery the other day…… Every Badugamos doll except for the Platinum one was now sitting on the shelf in my room. Silver Badugamos, Gold Badugamos and Diamond Badugamos respectively. And I must say the appearance of space metal jellyfishes decorating my shelf was quite surreal of a sight, but that Platinum one is sitting at a separate space. I mean, I still can’t quite forget the money that Gramps wanted to pay for this thing. Who knows? Maybe if I keep it here for long enough, it might go up in price even more? It’s always a possibility. When it comes to the feelings of regret, it is something that you keep locked away in some remote and dark corner of your heart, and you must never allow piling regrets to influence your life to the point where they basically are responsible for every single action and decision that you might make……
「Alright, pull yourself together, Sanraku! Regain the mindset that you once had in here! Now, off you go! To the nostalgic void of the Universe filled with vagueness!」

That being said, it is all good to be enthusiastic about something, but the thing that was waiting for me once I logged in was not the inside of the spaceship owned by Galaxy Traveler’s Sanraku, but rather a long-ass system window describing all the changes which has been implemented to the game thus far. There was a window informing about patched glitches. A window informing about changes. A window informing about both merits and demerits of certain in-game actions…… Because of that, it took me quite a while to familiarize myself with all of that info, and the sheer amount of information was more than enough to make my head spin. However, reading through it all was necessary for me to understand the rules by which the world of Galaxy Traveler was working after that major Update.
For the time being, I can say that out of all things in the game, three items in particular has been affected the update:
The first one is the player’s house, weapons, and ship…… So we can say it’s the spaceship update in general. Before the Update, it was evaluated as a stupid piece of junk of a spaceship with performance and toughness so fragile that it was truly laughable. But after the update, it has been reinforced enough to be able to fight back against even the strongest of the strong enemies, performing especially well against space pirates. It’s also a big thing that the armaments have been greatly strengthened, and it’s so impressive now that sometimes all it takes to bring the enemy down in combat is one well-placed salvo with the main battery of your guns. Before the Update, even the maximum firepower was able to do jack shit to even the weakest of enemies, being able to barely penetrate the armor in the first place. So from now on the Space Pirates were no longer a threat to the player. Like, at all.
