ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 587: It’s Like a Meteorite That Wears Out But Certainly Delivers Power Blow to the Earth Part 1
Like it was said earlier, human NPCs are mixed in with Android NPCs here, but since there is literally no way to distinguish one group from another when they have the same type of equipment, fighting them is pretty much pointless and a wasted effort. It would simply end in a complete and utter disaster. But that being said, we had to take our chances here, and so we started firing at the enemies…… doing just that. This was the only option we had left here.
Now, if the enemy would fall to the ground bleeding…… good. If they did not…… Well, shit.
「Oh, it seems that I have managed to level myself up.」
「I mean, we are fighting at an extremely close range, something that no one in their right mind would do in a game like this. With close range skills being so low, it’s only natural they would increase faster than usual.」
「No, no, no, no! Guys! Guys! Guys! Don’t you think it’s way too early to be all happy about leveling up!? We still have quite the situation on our hands!」
「…… But that being said, don’t you think that at the very least you should spend some of those points into the performance of your spaceships? What good will a well-developed player character get you if your spaceships sucks absolute ass?」
「I mean, it’s no longer a point of concern, you know? Before the Update? One hundred percent agree with you. But after the Update, as long as the player is alive even after their spaceship is destroyed, the game is not going to be over, so there you have it……」
「「And you really think that this makes it A-OK to just board the enemy’s main ship and try to take it just like that, hoping that everything is going to be fine!?」」
「…… Say, Gazelle? Rhino? It might be just me, but after this battle is over, no matter the outcome, we are still going to be friends, right?」

「Sincerity is the best possible guide there is. Remember, if you are ever lost, just let sincerity do all the work for you, and you just go with the flow. No matter where it is going to take you.」

「Why are we even talking about sincerity while we are in a situation as bad as this one?」
Well, you know, no matter if it is Player Versus Player or Player Versus Enemy, once you decided to go aboard the enemy’s vessel and make the battle up close and personal, this is very well the moment where you don’t really get to feel reluctant about anything at all. It’s basically do or die at this point. What’s more, I more or less assumed that every single one of the members of this infiltration team is into musou games up to some extent, so no matter what kind of enemy and adversity is rushing our way, there would always be one and only solution: to slaughter them all! Nothing more but a score to be upped, EXP points to be earned. But if push comes to shove here, we can always steal some weapons from the human enemies and use them ourselves. We are really lucky that they are here!
「…… This is just the way in which the space pirates tend to do things.」
「Hey, Fox! We were seriously having a moment here! And now you have ruined it! Seriously, dude, learn to read to room! You could have said something along the lines of what everyone else said! But then you had to say something like that!」
「I think that Space Pirates are nice. Sums us up pretty nicely, don’t you think so?」
「I think that it was a good thing to say here as well. Really inspirational.」
「Oh, well, if it isn’t Mister Mercenary. Thank you for all of your hard work out there. How is the war going? What’s the newest status?
「To be perfectly honest with you guys, at the current moment we are being slightly pushed back and at a disadvantage, but overall we are the ones who have the advantage here. It hurts that we have lost one of our own ships and the Hexagonal Palace, to boot, but we have also managed to destroy two of their ships in the process, Hexagonal Palace included. Also, just some more time and the batteries on the Great Wall are going to be fully recharged, but until that happens it will remain pretty much non-operational. So I guess that we still have our share of work cut out for us.」
Ahh, now I see. I wonder if this was the Mercenary’s strategy from the very beginning? Even if he was to accept the disadvantage of losing one of his Terraton-Class ships, as long as he was able to obtain the control over the Hexagonal Palace everything would even itself out. And even now, when the Hexagonal Palace was out of the equation, it was not a disadvantage to him, because he managed to sink one more of the enemy’s ships. And on top of it all, he still had his greatest tactical weapon at the ready, to be used on a later date as a potential finishing blow. And now, even if only his flagship was to remain on the battlefield all alone, he would still possess the power necessary to win this war by himself. So apparently he had every single front covered.
What’s more, the fact that the Hexagonal Palace was put out of commission is counted here as a huge loss for both parties involved. Or rather, it can be said that Mister Mercenary is the one who felt that blow the hardest, because of the losses on his end so far as well. After all, in space battle Terraton-Class ships are everything, and they decided who wins and who loses. But not everything is as bad as it seems to be. We just need to hold on just a little bit longer. Because in time, Mercenary’s tactical weapons would finally reload and we would be able to bring this battle to a close.
