「Kuh, and what the hell is that supposed to be!? Some sort of a Super-Weaponized Beetle, or something?」
Even though the space in here was extremely small, the huge beetle was trying to crush us to death by charging at us over and over again. Fortunately enough, each such attempt was ending in the same way: it crushing into the wall or falling to the ground. Ahh, for some reason I was finding that sight to be really nostalgic. It was a beetle-shaped monster reminiscent of a quad beetle that I happened to fight all that time ago in that one cave. But it was distinctly different because it had many horns growing out if its head, and a central horn at the top of its head that split in the middle, kind of like the thing that Herculean Beetles have. I guess that my mother would have been able to give me some more intel about it simply at a glance, but unfortunately she is not here to help me.
But the shape alone was not enough in here to be so sure about calling this monster an insect. Ordinary beetles does not grow horns like that and they do not possess some weird stingers on them. Also, their front legs do not evolve into scissors-like weapons!
And above all else, normal insects does not possess pseudo-mechanical deformations that makes them similar in look to a machine or a cyborg! What’s more, since it is constantly in that blasted flight mode, there is no way for me to actually rush towards it and unload a full melee combo! Now, what kind of deformation are those!? Its front legs are deformed and look like blades or sickles, and its rear wings bare strong resemblance to those of a fighter jet!

「Uwaah! My work! My precious work is ruined!!!」
Don’t worry about art! It’s just and object, anyways! As long as you are alive and well, you can always rebuild it! But once you are gone, you won’t be able to do anything about! So think carefully about what you want to do here!
But then again, whatever am I supposed to do here? This situation might have what it takes to be the best, but it also has potential to be the worst trouble imaginable! It’s really nice to have a monster like that trapped in a small space like this one, because it makes it pretty much an insect cage. But since we are trapped in this space together with it, the walls all of a sudden started to feel like a fence made out of the barbed wire. A barbed wire that also has electric current running through it at all times. The advantages and disadvantages of this current situation pretty much cancel one another out, and what’s more, for an Extraordinary Monster to appear in a place such as this, this Sigmonia Valley Battlefront, I’m afraid that we need to prepare ourselves for one heck of a grueling battle that is ahead of us!
「F-For now, let’s try and escape to the surface and……」
「Be quiet! This may or may not be the case here, but most insects should have very keen sense of hearing! The question is; what are we going to do now?」
「W-Well, I can already guess that whatever it is that we decide to do, I want to have no part in it! Period!」
「If you have time to whine and complain, then you have time and strength to do battle! Now brace yourselves! I will try to tank this thing the best I can, while Emul and Sigma! You are going to act as my supports! But above everything else, we need to survive! Now, Wimp…… Ahh, is that you, Sammy-chan-san? Thank you very much for lending us a hand!」

There is also that, but if you happen to die on me while there is still a Unique Scenario EX tied to you, then that would spell a whole lot of trouble for me! In the first place, I don’t really understand the performance of this guy just yet, I remember that it has a strong STR and that it can probably use poison.
However, I have no time to think about the status of the entire party right about now! I need to think about my own safety as well! Shit, for a mere insect, you surely like to thrash about a whole lot, huh!? What, you think that you can just break this cage to pieces!? Is that it!?
But, those who know me, the son of the crazy insect lover, Hizutome Eiko, know that if there is one thing that I have learned from my mother, it would be how to confront the cockroaches while also carefully observing them at the same time! Over a dozen years of knowledge and experience I have managed to accumulate thanks to living in a house where you cannot live without insect resistance! So, some insect thrashing about in its cage is nothing to me! I can do this!

I’m really glad I gave up on using Critical Speed in here. If I used it in such a narrow space, I would have turned into a stain on the wall before that Chrysalis thing would be even able to have a shot at ramming into me.
Brandishing my sword in my hands, the Fossil Miners’ Chrysalis adult flew in a trajectory that was about to hit the wall and it was then that I diagonally downward…… The front wing of the cyborg Kabuto that was so deformed! Hit the blade and score Critical Hit!

No, it’s no use, the driving force behind this thing is simply too great! If I am going to aim for a head-on showdown here I am going to lose for sure. As long as this thing is able to fly in the air, going in within melee range is equal to wanting to commit suicide. Besides, its sheer mass alone is the real problem here! Not to mention that it’s actually amazing! Large monsters are usually very slow but powerful, but I see this Cyborg Kabuto is an exception to that rule!
However, when it comes to various action games, it is always a staple that large monsters are hardly ever limited by their mass when it comes to both movements and attacking.
「Warning: I am detecting a high-density magic particle reaction in the nearby vicinity…… It looks to me like magical bombardment?」
「Oh yeah!? Then how about you inform me about things like that sooner!? I see that you really are a Cyborg through and through……!!」
In the very next moment, a concentrated laser beam that was most probably fired from a well-developed stinger managed to easily pierce through the wall of our hideout. Nooo! Stop it! My deposit! My well and hard-earned money!!!
No, come to think about it, the way I am going about all this is fundamentally wrong. I live in this place that belongs to the scorpion landlords basically rent free, and without permission to be here in the first place. So it should stand to logic that I have no safety deposit that can be taken away from me!
