ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 597: The Craziness of the Walking Battle Part 2

But this time around things are a little bit different. With Memento Mori in my hands, I need to retain the clarity of my mind as much as possible. Its good to possess destructive power, but you need to wield it properly for it to bring you the desired effect. But with enough kills, this sword should be as light as a baseball bat. How much more enjoyable sports would be if you were allowed to use weapons in them, huh? Just a thought, but it’s surely something that is worth considering for the future.

Make sure that the timing is just right, and then put all the power in the hand holding the Memento Mori as I possibly can. Then, while also putting the weight of my entire body into that swing, I bring the sword crushing down to the side of the Cyborg Kabuto. And then: reload, take aim, and……!!!

「FiiiiiiReeeeee!!」

SCRATCH! There is a rigid sound of one surface scratching against another surface, and my body slips from the body of the Fortress Gargantua on which I was standing. But the Cyborg Kabuto was not the one who was safe in this situation, I wouldn’t let things to end like that. As a result, it was firmly locked in place, and its head received some major damage. It was also stunned for a brief moment, shaking and unable to move.

「TheRE, tHE liGHT shiNING uP fROM abOVE!!」

Doing a thing like that, especially knowing that there are Crystal Scorpions around, is not the wisest of choices that you could have made. It’s like showing weakness in the presence of the ultimate predator. It is absolutely not missed by one second gap, which was immediately used by the nearby Scorpions which were most probably being led by the Emperor Crystal Scorpion to boot.

The giant of Cyborg Kabuto, which was temporarily suspended by that crash with me it had just now silently slowed down, and at that moment yet another bombardment managed to score a clean hit against its hard shell. It was a thrilling battle indeed, but at the current moment my brain was still kind of affected by that whole Gate of Tanhauser thing that happened in Galaxy Traveler. As a result of that, I managed to miss my opportunity for a follow-up attack, and the Cyborg Kabuto Regained its composure.

「bUT ThAT wAS a nICE AssIST!!!」

There was a clear “gap” in the haling process, probably not to be compared to the “fire power” and “number” that could be seen when it comes to the groups of Crystal Scorpions, but…… Even the sturdy body of something like Cyborg Kabuto would not be able to withstand all that impact once it was hit directly by it…… Ah, the direct combo attack of both Fortress Gargantua and the Centipedes is truly a sight to behold!

「I’m gonna blend you really nice out there!」

Cyborg Kabuto continues to attack me relentlessly, even though there were cracks in its armor that were starting to form more and more visibly all over its body. So even though it was doing its best to kill me and would not stop doing that, it was starting to suffer wounds that were growing to be pretty serious. You could even say that maybe it was even starting to slowly kill itself. It tried to twist its body and pierce its legs into my chest, but I held it firmly in one place and prevented it from doing that, although I was sure to sustain some heavy damage as a result of such action. Then I started to pummel at it with my own weapon, so that I would not be any worse. It might be a really sturdy monster, but every monster must have limits onto just how much punishment it can take, right? Well, it’s really funny to call something else a monster when you are practically one yourself at the moment, but I digress.

It might not have been Fortress Gargantua there, but a scaffolding is a scaffolding alright, and I’m not going to complain. It was spherical in shape, so there was only one action I could take: make an aerial-jump to go even higher and complete the step-up I was doing there……

While Cyborg Kabuto was charging straight at me, I started to brace myself for impact, preparing myself that I might as well die as a result of the clash that was about to come. However, at the last possible moment I shifted Memento Mori from the attack position into the defensive position, intending to use its broad blade like one would use shield to defend myself. Right after deciding that, I could not withstand the strengthening to such an extent without actually risking my body falling apart, and my body was being blown away with a mighty impact….. But that was actually what I was aiming at in the first place here. And the physics of the game engine that were soon to be realized in real time just happened to bless me with luck, calculating the outcome in the exact way I wanted to them to calculate.

「TaLK abOUT a PassiONATE hUG……」

At the current moment I am flying through the sky while being sandwiched by the limbs of the Cyborg Kabuto. Now, I know that it is really sturdy, almost like an armored tank, but I won’t let it go now! Even if I am going to be crushed by it! Let’s see how will you like that, you stupid insect……!

I feel like I could easily shake it off of me with my current stats while they last, but at the same time I can already feel that Memento Mori was starting to become heavier in my hand, even though it might have been only in my head and not a real occurrence in the game’s world. But flying through the sky is not exactly the best moment to think clearly about important matters. Can I continue to fly in the sky with such deadweights? Especially if one of those deadweights is actively trying to kill me?

This here next thirty seconds is going to be absolutely critical. I won’t be able to earn any new kills, and I won’t be able to keep the Hunger meter from accumulating. …… Now! Let the fate decide who is going to emerge victorious from this! You!? Or I!?
