ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 600: Copy the Snake, Listen to the Burning Cry Part 1
The Sigmonia Frontline Valley is an area located almost in the center of the New World. Sammy-chan-san is also an expert in stealth missions who can act secretly and swiftly if the situation requires her to do so, and since she does not have feet that would get caught in and sink in the sand, she would never slow us down. And above all else, it’s great that you can use her back to transport not only Wimp, but Emul as well. So it was a pretty sweet of a package deal here, all things considered.
Hm? What about Sigma and myself? I can use the Levin Trigger / Disaster Hand just fine here, and Sigma is able to fly a long distance with the help of the standard issue equipment of the Conquest Dolls. Yeah, like this Sammy-chan-san is bound to be dragging behind a little bit, but Sigma and I can’t move in stealth mode. And she most certainly can. That being the case, Sammy-chan-san seems to be most upwards compatible with us.
「I was wondering, but aren’t there any super strong monsters out here in this desert?」
「Supplementary Explanation: There are monsters in this area such as the Submarine Worms, which tend to appear from below the ground seemingly out of nowhere, but there are other monsters besides the worms called the “Sand Snake Kings”.」
「And I assume that those guys does not get along with regular snakes all that well, huh?」

Well, wouldn’t you know it? So, snakes seem to follow a strict hierarchy when it comes to their species? No…… Of course they do. And let’s just leave it at that. No use trying to think too hard about it.
When I start listening to the kind of hardships that this wimp had to go through, I feel like it won’t end even if she was talking all the time through the night and way into the day. Moreover, since it is a history filled with failure, defeat and escaping, it has the additional effect of sinking the mood in here quite a bit. What the hell is this? Some new and elaborate way of torture or something like that?
「That being said, I wonder if they are going to appear in our way, those Sand Snake Kings…… because they seem to be a poikilothermic monsters and all that.」
Oh, so it means that we won’t be able to see them during the night……? Oh well, I really wanted to see one of those things, but not to the point that I would like to go out of my way just so that we can do some optional encounter. Yeah, this is for the best here. But when we were crossing the desert at a breakneck pace we were able to spot some giant hermit crab-like enemy that was running away from us as soon as it managed to spot us. Well, if only we could do like that with every single encounter, we would have easily cross this desert without even a single problem! After this, we decided to develop a truly hellish escape drama just for the fun of it, where it all ended up with a hermit crab running away in fear from us with a huge cactus lodged into its back. Yeah, stay away from us or else we will turn you into a freaking pin cushion!

「Huh? Wait, what about Wimp?」
In the end, we ended up fighting the desert monsters on a few occasions, and while seeing off the cactus hermit crab that had finally withdrawn after we cut down almost all the cacti that grew in the vicinity as well as from its hardened shell, we started to look around for Wimp, only to discover that she somehow managed to disappear.
Well, that’s strange. Sammy-chan-san seems to be here alright, but I can’t see Wimp anywhere nearby. ……Hm? Hey, Sammy-chan-san? What’s that huge bulge around your throat? I’m pretty sure that it was not there before!
「Ahh…… Could it be, that’s your safety mechanisms?」
PUKE……
「Blegh! I want something to wipe myself with……! And a new set of clothes would be nice!」
I mean…… Is that what you are concerned about in the first place? Dude! There is so much I would like to say here, and I have no idea where do I even start with this!
Surely Sammy-chan-san’s stealth isn’t really transparent. Maybe it’s more like the principle with which the chameleon’s camouflage works. It’s a concept that is easy to misunderstand because of its reproducibility and how is able to erase the sign of being there to such a masterful degree. So I guess it somewhat checks itself out that if you hide inside of Sammy-chan-san’s body, you can benefit from it, but……
「Wimp, are you the kind of a being that is able to throw its pride out the window if it means surviving at all cost? Dude, pride is really important to have. It’s a spice. A spice of life.」
「Huh?」
「It’s better to have it in certain situations rather than not.」
I mean, win is still a win, even when it is done through the means that are…… questionable pride-wise. And when pride goes out the window it will always make you question the things that you are doing, or the way in which you are going them. So, pride is really important to have. Also, it’s good to have a laugh at your opponents, but don’t bully them into disconnecting, because it will only make you look like the bad guy instead. …… Interpersonal relationships might be hard to pull off correctly, but they are really important in social dynamics.
「I’m not saying here that you should participate in every single battle, but even if you decide to run away from it, you need to make sure that you do that in a graceful and proper manner……」
「I don’t think that there is a way to be graceful about being covered in puke all over like that……」
