ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 601: Late Night Shout, and the Dawn Girl Part 1
–––––– As they say, the Death’s Voice is most certainly a bad voice.
Those words are the exact words of someone who I used to play with during the era of Spell Creation Online. And that guy knew what they were saying, because they were the one responsible for creating the spell category “Song”.
I’m not really into Death Metal and all other kinds of music that fall under that category, but if I were to put into words what kind of sounds were being emitted right here at the current moment, I could safely say that it was something that sounded just like Death Metal. Or at the very least that was my image of it……
It really is a shame in here, but unfortunately I was unable to find a conclusion I was looking for when I was researching that subject on my own. However, I still remembered the principles behind the Death Voice spell from all that time ago, and it all proved to be very useful in here after all.
Let’s just say that the essence of this spell is to let out a voice so loud as if you were intend on shouting your opponents to death.
「AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!」
The special technique employed here is called “Sunny Day” and it is basically a generator of a loud sound that is supposed to scare the monsters and the members of the opposing party. However, it also possesses a curious little side effect, or rather an effect that was exactly what I wanted to do in here…… The volume of the voice being emitted is increasingly louder the more this skill is being applied. In addition to that, for some reason part of the equipment that Sigma has in her possession is a megaphone of all things. …… So, with the addition of a loudspeaker, in a nutshell, the volume is further increased through the microphone many, many more times. And the ability of “Burning Face” is to give a special additional effects to the skills and magic caused around the player thanks to the special parts imbued in this helmet.
To give you an appropriate example here: chanting the magical incantations is done by mouth, and full chanting adds the effect of combining debuffs and damage in addition to normal magic damage. Then, what happens if you were to add one more additional effect to the bunch, the one called “scream”? Long story short, you would get yourself a nice little acoustic wave that is being projected from your mouth, a one that is capable of inflicting quite a bit of damage…… Or at the very least that is the theory behind it.
「AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!」
All of a sudden, the sound emitted from my mouth is converted into a gust of bright blue flames, and the wavelength of the Death Scream is disturbed. No matter what your opinion on the subject is or what you personally think about it, a normal human being should never be able to spit out flames from their mouth, but this burning appearance belongs to the same category as that of the Blood Crown. Or that’s how I tend to explain that to myself. So it should not be that much of a surprise if flames or even thunderbolts would start to come out of your mouth…… No, it’s way too mysterious to try and think about it rationally, but this is the game world we are talking about here. And in this world it is possible for humans to run so fast that they would smash into a red stain on the wall. So if something like that is possible, then everything else is possible as well.
「T-They are not human, I tell you……」
Shut the fuck up, you stupid reptiles. No one cares what you think.
Regaining my composure and focusing my attention on the task at hand, I continue to channel the Death Voice. The flames’ radiation emitted from my mouth illuminates the darkness of the night and makes this entire patch of the Sea of Trees glow up with a pale light. You can even see the branches and leaves of the tree that were being touched by the flames that they decay and turn into ashes in a blink of an eye…… It seems that it is not just a simple amount of heat that’s being emitted here, but I have not found a place to use it successfully, at least not until now. But I guess that in here this is turning out to be pretty good of a combo attack, wouldn’t you agree?
「AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH……!!!!!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!」
However, as long as this game is a Full Dive game and the avatar is made based on the real human body, there is a limit to just how much and for how long you can breathe out or let out a scream. It felt like it lasted for a fairly long time, but after finishing the flamethrower Death Voice, which would have been less than a minute in real life time, I have found out myself to be left short of breath, which made me fall silent in an instant. Honestly, I didn’t even realize when exactly it happened. …… But now, let’s do that again. So I hold onto the microphone and get ready to repeat the whole process, but this time doing it a little bit differently.
「Oi, you stupid bastards over there! Yes, you there, you assholes! I know that you are spying on us for a while now! Don’t think that you are making a good job of keeping low profile! Now, if you have something you wish to say to us, then come on out and say that to our faces instead of hiding in the shadows like complete sissies you are!!!」
Now, if there were really other people out there watching us or going after Wimp, I do believe that this little display of power should have been more than enough to convince them to just come out in the open. I mean, it was said by someone who literally just almost shouted them all to death and spew blue flames from their mouth. If that is not convincing enough to you, then I don’t know what is. …… So come on out, no matter if you are alone or with the assist of the player!
「I know who that person with you is!!! It is the eighth separated piece of the Original One, the snake Goldunine! If you have any complaints about that, come on out and say them to my face! Otherwise, I am going to keep on burning this place down and shout you to death!! So come clean or else you are going to regret not doing so!!

After shouting that out loud I just stand there for a moment before eventually turning my gaze towards Wimp. Upon hearing the way in which I addressed her she also folded her arms and with an all-important look painted all over her face she gave the surrounding forest a look as if she was looking down on it. But since her face was so stiff right now it looked more like a mask rather than anything else, and she was most definitely doing a poor job at trying to hide just how much her knees were shaking right there. Normally I would be the first one to go and point that out, but this time around I’m going to let it slide.
