Hmm, could it be? Or maybe not? I mean, I have some experience in that field as well, as I have been in the same position on more than one occasion. So I of all people should know something about it.
Pencilgton may be a bastard and a Demon Lord, but she is also a pretty ingenious person, one who loves to scheme a whole lot and interact with her prey a whole lot for that end. That’s just how she chooses to roll. However, on the other hand, she is not all that high in terms of performance, so if she is targeted by a group of people in the coordinated attack at some point, then there is a good chance that she can be taken down quite easily. In other words, her weakness is a small number of elite players that can launch a surprise attack at her, so it would seem that the in-game Demon Lord is no so invincible and unbeatable as everyone else might think.

However, it’s really strange…… Even if it’s a small number of elite players that were trying to sneak up in here…… Pencilgton is still a player, so you can kill her one hundred times and she is going to come back one hundred times and more. Not to mention that since Allslot and Pencilgton are real life brother and sister, she might actually try to get back at him in the real life as well.
So then, what could their end goal here be? Perhaps they want to assassinate the Grand Duke of Thirdrema? After all, NPCs does not respawn once they have been killed…… And if you get rid of the Grand Duke, there is a high chance that you might get on the good side of the new king, and with the amnesty order looming around the corner, you would be able to get out of this whole gig with a clean record. Not to mention being handsomely rewarded, I assume. It all seems good, way too good for that matter, but…… If some random people were able to come up with elaborate schemes like that, then Peencilgton would have been out of her job before long and she wouldn’t be such a force to be reckoned with.
There was once a famous formation in the Knights Rounds called The Self-Destructing Shadow Warrior Princess Army Corps of the End of the World. It was a famous formation because of the fact that all of its members had a tendency to resolve various conflicts through the means of self-destructing without a second thought. And now I have a flashback of a whole army of same-looking people pouring out of the carriage in order to blow themselves up just a moment after that…… Who knows? Maybe there’s still a video of such spectacle going around the Internet? I would like to see it at least once. It must look hilarious from the third person’s perspective. But that besides the point for now. For now I need to rethink my plan of actions.
「Alright, Emul, a sudden change of plans. We are going to follow those guys for now and see what they are actually up to.」

You cannot go on a tailing mission on an empty stomach! ……By the way, my sneaking skill in this game might be quite bad, but please bare in mind that I have honed it to the maximum in other games as well! But that being said, even if you know the ways in which some monsters tend to behave and what their attack patterns are, you can never anticipate the moment when one of them actually manages to sneak behind your back without you even noticing…… That’s what horror games are all about……

I could hardly hear what those two were whispering about because their voices were so silent, but it became easier to track them because they were going through some back alleys that were more or less creating a labyrinth around these parts. So I was actually able to pick up bits and pieces of their conversation…… or rather, it was Emul was was able to do so.

Could it be that they came here looking for a way to deal with the Rare Monster? And for that purpose they went right in the middle of the “enemy” territory? Somehow I was highly doubting that. The story does not hold up, no matter how you would like to look at it……
But then again, what is their goal here? After entering the back alley, they often looked into the side streets and turned around, so there were moments where I had to back away or hide behind something so that they wouldn’t notice me. I was honestly starting getting tired of it and even consider trekking alongside the roofs and watching them from above, but I quickly gave up on that idea…… And then they were watching the roofs as well? Seriously, what are they even looking for? What they were hoping to find? The Grand Duke himself? Clearly that was not it.
「Thirdrema…… Mobs prowling about…… I feel like something really bad is about to happen……」
But as far as I am concern, I do not want to find myself wrapped into this craziness, not even for the sake of uncovering what those guys are up to. Maybe it would be better for me to ask about that some of the locals. Or maybe someone who is more knowledgable in the current events that transpired in here recently…… But I can’t use the bird mail system here, because that would reveal my location right away. In other words, I can only rely on my own memory for now…… but I have little to no memories about Thirdrema in the first place. So I might as well hit my head against a brick wall and hope for a good result.

Ahh, I see, now that I think about it, it all starts to make a perfect sense. Now I remember. This would be all about that one story that Katsu told me about on that one occasion, and I did not paid that much attention to it. This is about Thirdrema’s most famous Unique Scenario called the “Tomboy Princess”! The content of this Unique Scenario is about discovering that the daughter of Grand Duke of Thirdrema has escaped from the castle and is out and about somewhere in the city, and then you have to spend time with her and raise her affection levels until she agrees to be taken back into the castle, only after being fully satisfied!
Allslot, could it be that you guys…… Are actually planning a kidnapping here?
What should I do here? Truth to be told, I always wanted to play the role of a kidnapper at least once in my life!
