ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 641: Helping One Another and Blooming Part 1
When it comes to games that allow the player to make their own avatars, they tend to be separate into two different branches that can be treated as polar opposites:
–––––– The ones that allow the Player to change their avatar at a later point in the game and the ones that do not allow for such a thing.
All this time I was under the impression that you cannot really change the looks of your avatar after the initial character creation, but I can see it now after visiting both the Leviathan and Behemoth that this was actually not the case here. Also, the words of “Ivory” just now pretty much managed to confirm that I was wrong this whole time.
So now my whole perception of this game was changed: now that I know that you can indeed change the appearance of your own avatar, it might become a vital piece of information that is going to be worth a fortune. I can certainly imagine that for certain players an option like that is going to be way more valuable than information about monsters, items or dungeons.
「But I thought that things like that are only possible during Real Life Events such as JGE?」
「Yes, yes, that’s right! Normally that should be the case here, but judging from her words, I think it is safe to assume that there is a way for us to use that option from now on. At least here in this place.」
Oh well, I am more than sure at the current moment that this is the way in which you can utilize this “Results” currency that I just earned, but let’s just see what happens.
「Say, would you like to see the way in which this whole Edit option works?」
Rei-san nodded her head after taking a moment to actually consider this idea, and then just like me she went into the test tube and lay down inside of it. The tube then closed its hatch and the whole thing sunk into the floor with a sudden momentum. Being subjected to something like that…… I don’t know what kind of face was she making inside of the tube, but I can guess that it wasn’t pretty. Oh well…… now I know that my expression surely won’t be any better.
Alright then, let’s just remove all the equipment and jump right in, shall we……

ZWOOSH! And just like that my field of vision went completely dark and as the test tube sank into the floor I started to scream from this really uncomfortable feeling that suddenly overwhelmed me……

No, you see, it’s not the absence or presence of tubes and cables that I am worried about in here…… Oh well, for the time being I just lied down on my back and sunk in the water that was slowly starting to fill in the tube. Now then, whatever should I do?

…… Hmm, I see. I appreciate the sentiment and the pre-generated build, but I will have to change it a little bit. After all, I am someone who likes to decide things solely on my own, but I can also appreciate the gesture if it is genuine.
「WHEN IT COMES TO SEEING THEIR CHILD GROW, THERE IS NO CHANE FOR THE PARENTS THAT IS CONSIDERED GOOD OR BAD. PICK WHATEVER YOU THINK IS FITTING YOU, AND IT WON’T CHANGE THE WAY IN WHICH I PERCIEVE YOU.」
Hmm, is that so……? Oh, won’t you look at that? My body is indeed displayed right in front of the darkness that I can see all around me.

Body illusion, huh……? Ah, could it be that what you mean by that is something similar to applying make-up to yourself?
Alright, let’s get that show on the road, shall we? For the time being, let’s start with something that I have thought about for a while now: I want to become slightly more bulky.
「OHO? ARE YOU GOING TO INCREASE YOUR BODY MASS? BUT AREN’T YOU SOMEONE WHO RELIES PURELY ON MOVEMENT SPEED AND AGILITY?」
There is no shame in wanting to have a more “stable” core, if you ask me. But honestly speaking, my previous physique was already quite good, but that being said…… It can always be better. And if you get to choose between good and better, it should be obvious what you should be choosing.
The way in which you could adjust your new physique was conducted through a circle slider that was right in front of me, and depending on the direction in which I was moving it, my avatar was turning slimmer or burlier. Now, I don’t want to look like a freaking body-builder, but I don’t want to look too skinny as well. What I want to aim for in here is a physique that could easily withstand the light heavyweight equipment, but at the same time the length of my arms must be adequate for my playstyle. So it would have to be about this…… Yeah? Is that good?
「IT SURELY IS HANDY THAT YOU CAN SEE THE RESULTS OF ALL THE CHANGES THAT YOU ARE APPLYING IN REAL TIME ON THAT OTHER MODEL, HUH?」
No argument here. Hmmm, I have a sense of discomfort when I try to move around, so I guess that it will take some time to adjust myself to moving around when the new look is going to be permanently applied. It is not very well balanced as a character, and my height seems to be a little bit stretched…… Yes, there is sure a feeling of discomfort in here, but maybe I’m just worrying too much?
Now let’s try to stretch my feet … Hmmm, the trunk is not enough here. Well then, let me crank it up a little bit more…… Oh, and the shoulders as well, while we are being at it. And since we have done that, some adjustments to the skeleton are also in order…… Aw yeah, and this is?
