1. Marge, the Skill Lender

Altora is an expert swordsman who has numerous skills such as [Slash Enhancement] and [Hawk Eye] to strengthen his high-speed sword skill [Sword Saint].

Eria, the magical genius, has mastered ancient magic using the wisdom skill [Ancient Wisdom] and has been able to use it in actual combat with [High Speed Chant] and [Auto Mana Recovery].

Gordon, the former royal gatekeeper, has both impregnable defense with his hardening skill [Obsidian] and high mobility due to his [Physical Strength Enhancement] and [Flash Step] skills.

Saint Tina is a healer who has enhanced her healing skill [Angel’s White Wings] with [Range Enhancement], [Duration Extension] and such to the point where she can even revive the dead.

The four of them each have powerful unique skills and many skills that work synergistically with them. Among the members of the S-class party “Divine Silver Sword”, which is called a miracle party, I would have to say that I am quite mediocre.

The only skill I have is [Skill Lender]. To be exact, I do have more, but I have lent them all to my party members using this skill, so I don’t have any left.

「What’s going on with Marge?」

「He’s so slow. Seriously, just how long does it take to learn a single skill?」

I heard Gordon and Altora’s voices from the other side of the door.

Learning skills requires knowledge and training – to put it bluntly, studying – and for that reason, it’s been three years since I was assigned a separate room in the inn called a study room. At first I was assigned to a normal room, but recently it has been nothing but storage rooms.

Thanks to that, the walls and doors were thin and I could hear everyone who were in the hallway. Two more footsteps approached and stopped in front of the door. It was probably Tina and Eria.

「Is there something wrong?」

「The hallway is cold. I don’t see the advantage of standing and talking out here.」

「It’s Marge’s fault. He keeps saying things like needing to learn skills to use in conquering the next dungeon, but he is just so goddamn slow…」

Altora complained, but considering the information we have on the next dungeon, all of these skills are essential. It’s just that no one was willing to understand its importance.

「Hey, isn’t it about time? There’s no point in borrowing skills that even someone like Marge can learn.」

「Agreed. We already have enough skills. There are too many disadvantages in bringing around someone who can’t even protect themself.」

「Yes… I know he’s trying his best, but I think it’s hard to ignore the difference in talent.」

The conversation continued further, but the result was “We don’t need Marge anymore.”

「It’s high tide, I guess.」

The crossroads of fate happened three years ago when Altora entered the A-class dungeon on his own. It was too reckless to challenge the dungeon without a plan, but thanks to a combination of luck, such as the boss being injured in an earthquake just before, Altora was able to conquer the dungeon. Believing that to be his true strength, Altora and the others have not listened to me seriously for three years since then.

However, at the same time, it is an undeniable fact that there is a stark difference in talent. Once we finish conquering the next dungeon, a small amount of reward money will be distributed to me, so maybe I should just leave my skills behind and retire gracefully. Having made my resolve somewhat, I walked out of the storage room.

「…It’s done. I’ll lend it to you each now.」

「You’re late.」

「I’ll be mindful next time. [Skill Lender], activate.」

[The lending process will begin. Please select the recipient and the skill.]

There were no words of gratitude or kindness from anyone. I surrendered all 12 skills I had learned without even eating, and headed to the dining room.

The pot contained four-day-old bread dipped in diluted soup.

Thanks for the chapter! Really now. People forget where they come from once they think they’ve gotten better with their own efforts and not paying attention to the truth.
