Down the grey avenue wheeled a coach. Seated inside was Raakel, come on this day again to the Stenmark estate. But unlike the merry visit of the month prior, there lived now no mirth upon the maiden’s mien. In still and colourless gloom she sat. Clouds clogged the skies. Her sombre dress draped over her yet-scathed legs.

When the coach parked, and she was ushered into the manor and the drawing room, there alone to await Raakel was her beloved Ville. Indeed, he, too, had survived the dour ordeal.
