CHAPTER 144: MY FIRST DUNGEON

‘Please place the Dungeon Core before accessing the Catalogue. Core: Common Dark/Demonic’

When I tried using [Dungeon Catalogue] I got this message. Well since everything is already set up I decided to place it in its designated pedestal. The core looked like a crystal ball you see those fortune tellers have in movies. The moment I placed it, the color changed to dark gray with crimson tinges. And with that a much stronger mana wave exploded from the center of the room this time drastically changing the surroundings.

I could clearly feel the changes being made to the dungeon, but I really wanted to curse out loud. I did all that work to conceal the mana wave and now there was another larger one that I had no way of hiding. Luckily nobody knows that I am here otherwise I would be in deep trouble. I still need to do something about my students outside the dungeon.

‘Please choose an avatar for the dungeon core.’

“I’ll do that later, just let me open the Catalogue!”

I didn’t have time to do this administrative stuff. I am in a hurry. If those people outside are really my students they will be able to reach lower floors in a matter of minutes since they knew the layout of the first floor. And right now there were no monsters whatsoever inside. It will be a walk in the park for them.

What the heck, I didn’t say choose a random one; I said to choose it later. The core glowed and I was presented with a shop screen like the ones on the internet. I was really glad Thanatos-sama was inspired by modern earth when he made things like this. I was quickly browsing through the menu looking for anything remotely resembling a shield or something that will allow me to protect the dungeon for the next few hours while I set everything up.

On the very end of the list after all the monsters, traps and items I found the perfect item. It was called beginner’s protection. It will last anywhere from two to ten days and the duration is randomly chosen once activated. This was available for only two more hours.

I didn’t dare hesitate and spent 5000 points to purchase it. I still didn’t know the true value of points, but as long as I can have time I am sure to be able to protect this place well. The item description said it would forbid entrance to all creatures and looking at the 26 dots on the map I figured it was working. Now I can take things slow.

***NINO’S POV***

I heard these kids were amazing and even saw them while they were still training in Orzak, but I was able to realize this time just how amazing they are. The scouts were constantly communicating with the rest of the group using a special set of signals so that the entire party could move silently and still be aware of everything that scouts were reporting. Naoko-san really trained them well.

According to the first report the dragon and its opponent were nowhere to be seen and the entrance to the Goblin’s Lair looked the same as ever. Sadly things didn’t stay calm because another mana wave swept us all. This one was much stronger and had sinister aura about it. We were too late, the dungeon had been awoken and the Dungeon Core had been claimed.

“We need to hurry, that dragon most likely defeated the young dungeon master and claimed the core. We are really out of luck today. Let’s hope we will be able to take it on.”

Moving at full speed, we arrived at the destination in a few minutes, but it was too late. There was a seal placed on the dungeon. This is something that was recorded long ago, but some dungeons when they are created will be placed under a seal and nothing can enter for several days. Well it is a good thing for us as well since we can gather some people to clear it once it opens. But who knows what will happen inside in the meantime.

“Earl-sama, what should we do? Just standing here I could feel that the place had changed a lot. I don’t think the maps we created and what we know about Naoko-sensei’s fake dungeon will be of help to anyone.”

“We can’t do anything now. This is all too troublesome. Let’s go back and once the seal disappears we can enter. Since you guys are closest to hear do keep an eye on it and report to me once the seal is gone. Don’t enter alone, if you do Naoko-chan will skin me alive if she finds out I put her students in danger. Let’s go back to sleep.”

And just like that we went back. I thought about the rush at the guild that was waiting for all of us tomorrow and just wanted to run away and hide. Uncle why did you have to go now of all time?

***NAOKO’S POV***

Oh good, they left. Now I can take it easy and slowly build up defenses. But first some sleep is needed to recover all my lost strength. I left the core room and went back to where the portable sofa was.

“I’m going to sleep. If you touch me forget about living.”

I made sure to warn the dragon before slipping under my blanket on the sofa. When I wake up I will deal with small details like spawning monsters and activating traps. I should also hurry up and do the wyvern request. Ah, I feel so good now that everything is finished. This sleep will be so sweet.

I could hear some notices but I was already unable to think clearly. Well whatever it was, it can wait until morning.

***ARCHDUKE’S POV***+

I stared at the dungeon entrance which I couldn’t enter. I realized immediately that Nao-chan activated the dungeon seed, but I couldn’t activate the spell that I put on it. She must have made sure to eliminate every single trace of mine from the item.

“Tsk… you got me this time around; once you acclimate yourself to that power it will be impossible to wrestle it away. How frustrating, fine, I’ll let you have this one.”

I came here to take the dungeon away from here, but I never thought she would activate the protection, I didn’t even know she was aware of it in the first place. Let’s just hope she doesn’t do something stupid and misses the chance to gain a free skill. Well I don’t plan on telling her how to do that, so let’s leave it to her.

I turned away from the Goblin’s Lair and returned to my house in Icefire Mountains greeting the guardian of the Fire Dungeon; Fang the fire dragon.

“Looks like I will be able to gather some more points tonight.”

I opened the Catalogue and summoned a magma golem in front of adventurers that were currently exploring the dungeon.
