CHAPTER 165: DINNER WITH ROYAL FAMILY

I was seated next to Vitou at the grand dining table and the First Princess Luana was sitting across and kept glancing towards me. Or should I say more specifically at my necklace that had Mermaid’s Tear pendant. I decided to ignore her for now.

“Naoko-chan there is so much to do before the wedding ceremony. You must prepare yourself for some busy days up ahead. First we must hold your introduction party. This is scheduled to be held in ten days.”

I kept on eating silently. There was nobody aside from the royal family at the table. There was no need to show my respect to Vitou, or the king. If the Queen, or princess asks me anything I will replay, but the other two won’t get a word out of me.

“Father it is no use. I have tried to interact with her the past few days and it was hopeless. Unless she has something to ask directly, she will not even acknowledge you.”

That is right, it seems like I taught him well. Tell the King to bother with anything. That way my life will be that much easier.

“Well that doesn’t matter, this dinner is so she can hear the schedule and to plan out some other small details. She can remain as silent as she wants.”

The food the royal family eats really needs an upgrade. Fulgy makes a hundred times better food than any of the royal chefs. I wonder if I can bring him over to be my personal chef. I am sure he will be happy to be next to me again.

“Now let’s continue. After the introduction party, you two will need to go to Vilikis to personally deliver the wedding invitation to the royal family and to present yourselves. The date is not yet decided, but it will be within the next six months.”

“The wedding will be held in Kapitalia in the Royal Church of Sincerity under the protection of Goddess Erykal. It will be held under the Royal Law of Marriage decreed in the times of old. I am sure you are already familiar with sacred rites of twelve Gods. After the ceremony your honeymoon will be spent however the two of you want to.”

Yeah right, I don’t plan on going anywhere with him , least of all on a honeymoon. This meat would have been much better if they added some lemon or orange on top before throwing it in the oven. Seriously, what are those chefs doing, their food is barely passable.

“As you can see the outline is already planned out, but we are missing some details and this is why I will need you to answer me Naoko-chan. It will be all for your convenience.”

Cue sarcasm: because you are all about my convenience after all. If you really cared about it, you would not have forced me to marry in the first place. It is all thanks to your selfishness that my life now was miserable.

“Naoko-chan, please answer. We can do this some other, but it definitely won’t be as pleasant as this one where we are all talking over good food.”

Huh? Did he ask something? I was preoccupied with my food. I don’t know who did it, but the vegetables were amazing. They were on par with food that Fulgy makes. The flavors simply melt in your mouth and make you crave for more. I could easily eat this all the time and never get bored of it.

“Nao-chan…”

“Naoko dear is something the matter?”

“No, Your Majesty the Queen, I am simply enjoying the food. These vegetables are extremely well done and I was completely taken by the taste. I want to give praise to the chef that made it.”

Both Vitou and the king were shocked that I answered so politely while I didn’t even bother speaking one word to either of them, even avoiding looking in their direction.

“I am sure she will be pleased to hear your praise.”

I even smiled at the gentle woman sitting next to the King. I went back to my food. Finally there was silence to enjoy my food.

“Naoko-chan I have to ask, I simply cannot hold back anymore… That necklace of yours is a legendary item, isn’t it? And from the aura around it, it should be water attributed item.”

Oh, she really has a good eye. She must be familiar with a lot of items to be able to determine their value and specifics merely from looking at it from afar. I saw the king becoming interested in this as well. I do not plan on hiding my power anymore, so I don’t mind them knowing about it. I wouldn’t have worn it otherwise.

“You are correct, it pairs up well with Sapphire, my sword. With those two items I can cover my weakness of not having water attribute to some degree. But the true might of these items can only be shown by someone that can also wield water element naturally like it did once before in the distant past.”

“I knew it! I am aware that you do not possess water magic, and yet I kept on sensing pure water element coming off of you.”

The princess seemed really pleased to be able to get it right. I smiled at her childlike smile. Well she was only fourteen this year. I assume she would be married off to a prince of Vilikis or some other noble like, god forbid the Archduke all for the sake of gaining something. The royalty is really cruel in that sense. I snuck a glance at the king and saw him pass a piece of paper to his wife.

“Naoko dear, can you please answer these requests for me. When I heard how my son proposed to you from the very first day that he met you I also want to see this happen successfully.”

“I don’t mind answering you, but it seems to me you are not aw…”

“Nao-chan thank you so much for cooperating. I will assure you that my Royal Mother will do everything to make this magical and unforgettable.”

Huh? Did he really just prevent me from telling the Queen the truth? I looked at his suspiciously and saw him sweating nervously. The King didn’t seem much better either.

“Okay, can you tell me, your family members, how can we contact them?”

“There is no need, I am alone. But before that, maybe you should know that Vitou…”

“How sad it is to be alone. You are right, Vitou will become your family.”

This time it was the King that interrupted me. I realized that I finally had some leverage and I immediately decided to use it against them. This dinner was finally turning out to be fun. The questions the Queen asked ranged from my personal connections to see who I would invite to the wedding, what my favorite flowers were and what colors would be used to add to decorations.

There were some personal questions like my medical history, drugs that I took in the past and even the length of my cycle. I had no idea what they needed all that information, but I didn’t mind giving it all to them since it gave me more opportunities to torment to King and Vitou to the point where they were even rushing me to stop talking and postpone the discussion of details to a later day.

When everything was finally over, I went back to my room with a smile on my face. This is the most fun I had in weeks and I guess I would continue to have more of it in the next few days.
