CHAPTER 202: REINFORCEMENTS
“Red Lake! We’re finally here. I thought I’d never reach it. Fulgy, when was the last time that you came here?”
Red Lake, once known as Dragon Eye Lake is a lake hidden in the mountains that used to be the largest dungeon before the first generation heroes destroyed it. Now it is merely known as a tourist spot during the summer months because in spring and autumn some dragons tend to visit this place.
“Hmm, maybe a decade or two, I don’t really know.”
“Naoko, why are we here? There are no dragons here. What are you planning on doing?”
There aren’t any dragons here yet. I couldn’t help but smile at his question, but I didn’t answer it. I took out the inn and entered it. I will let them suffer just a bit longer.
“We will stay here for a week. Vitou if you disagree better say it now, this goes for others as well. No matter what happens I will not leave before the week is over. If you want to leave I will ensure that you can do so safely.”
Everyone looked scared right now. Well since they are silent I will take it that they do not disagree with staying here.
“Nao-chan, is there something that we should know that you are not sharing with us?”
“Hmm, nothing much. You most likely know this if you read any books about dragons and their habits, but this is the time when they shed scales. As you know, the older the dragon is the larger it becomes. It needs to shed its scales every so often otherwise it would not be able to grow.”
I guess they still haven’t connected all the dots, or they just aren’t thinking about how this place was called Dragon Eye Lake since every year dragons would come to this valley to shed their scales here. This place has a lot of sharp rocks and cliffs which makes it perfect for them. Nowadays this was mostly forgotten so it became Red Lake for all the red dirt in the valley.
I waited for all the cogs to click and connect in their heads. It was fun looking at their expressions going from blank to shining and finally settling down on terrifying. Good, now we are all on the same page.
“Naoko, don’t be ridiculous! This is insanity! There will be dragons swarming here!”
“You’ve gone too far Nao-chan.”
“Dragons? As in plural?!”
This is perfect, let them all yell it out now. Later they would come to terms that I won’t move and then they would calm down. One person was rather calm during all this clamor aside from Fulgy.
“Marc, you seem okay with this plan. I assume you aren’t bothered with dragons. It’s nice to see someone that agrees with me.”
“Of course I am not bothered, after all no dragon can harm me. I have a Dragon’s blessing. All royal members of Vilikis are born with it. As long as we don’t harm dragons purposefully and maliciously we are given stronger bodies and are considered friends to all dragons. My endurance is enormous. If you want, we can test it out. Sadly, I’m afraid this inn wouldn’t be able to handle it.”
“Marc keep your paws away from her!”
“Back off lecher!”
I think this is the first time I saw Vitou and Fulgy act out in unison. I chuckled at their behavior and merely went upstairs. Since it was already dark I decided to catch up on some sleep and cast away the stiffness from the long flight today. I should probably reward Byakko tomorrow. He had it the toughest since he had to run all the way here.
***VITOU’S POV*** – THE FOLLOWING MORNING
That girl, how the heck am I supposed to deal with her? She does whatever she wants on a whim without considering the consequences. And it doesn’t help that father keeps pressuring me to make a move on her before the wedding. Does he want me dead? Luckily yesterday Daisuke was able to figure out another way to use his skill which allows him to inspect the information of others. I really wanted to puke once I saw the numbers and some more skill explanations.
I asked him how he was able to do it and he told me something about not reading the person itself but mana and aura around that person. Once he was able to realize that principle of using the skill it evolved. Thankfully he was able to do it and now I can once again know where Nao-cha is standing with her stats.
“Since I can’t stop her, I should probably call the only person that has a chance of reasoning with her. I just hope he decides to come and not ignore me.”
I took out a green firework. He said to use it if she becomes too unreasonable to deal with. If going against multiple dragons isn’t called being unreasonable I don’t know what is.
I left my room and stepped outside. The sun had still yet to rise and I thought everyone was asleep in their respective rooms, so seeing Naoko being awake and training with a staff behind the inn caught me off guard.
“What are you doing at this hour?”
“Good morning to you too. And in case you are blind, I am training.”
I can see that she was still angry at me. I guess I should give her one more chance to change her mind.
“Nao-chan, are you seriously not planning on leaving and staying in this valley? These are dragons that we are talking about. Plural. It is not worth risking our lives.”
“Nope, I am not leaving. Dragon scales are something that I must have and this is the only time when I can gather them. If we come later there would barely be any left. Sadly the scales once they leave the dragon’s body disappear, or should I better say melt away quite easily.”
“If that is the case you leave me with no other choice.”
I lit the small firework and it flew up leaving a green smoke behind. I saw that she was seemed puzzled, but once the green smoke started changing her expression turned sour. I had a feeling that she saw something like this before.
“My dear sister, you sure do look lovely looking at me like that. I can simply feel all the sisterly love you have from me.”
