CHAPTER 204: MANA DUEL

Games turned out to be a huge hit for everyone, but the biggest win for mostly me and the Archduke. Sadly I wasn’t able to learn anything about him, but I did get everyone to collect the scales for me all without needing to pay them a single penny. Free labor is the best.

There was alcohol involved in several games, but I didn’t partake in it. I really didn’t want to have an episode where I do something extremely stupid and regretful. Especially since Vitou, Fulgy and the Archduke were all here.

And thus four days have passed. I had a feeling we were having one giant party. Plus I could swear that Mia and Marc were flirting with each other more and more obvious with each passing day. I’m all for people getting together, but I am worried about Mia since Marc is a known playboy. If she’s only looking for a hookup, then great, if she wants something deeper I’m worried she might get hurt.

“Naoko you’re not fair. How can you be so good at all these games? You have to be cheating!”

“Catch me cheating and I will admit defeat. But for now your punishment is using up all your mana then taking this ice bucket and drenching yourself. I don’t want you having mana to protect yourself from the cold. Once you do that you must run three circles around the inn saying ‘I am a loser and Naoko-sama is the greatest!’ Now go on and hurry along.”

“You’re cruel!”

Despite all that, Taichi did his punishment. I have been making all sorts of excuses to make them spend mana to create the mana overload that the Archduke mentioned. I saw him smiling at me and nodding approvingly. I really wanted to know what will happen.

“Nao-chan what are you planning? I didn’t want to mention it before, but you are hoarding quite a lot of mana inside this valley. It is weird that it is not dispersing, but you are being too obvious about it if you are trying to stay secretive.”

After a very intense match of rock-paper-scissors Marc was forced to eat hot chili pepper and not drink water for the next five minutes.

“Is that really the reason why you are doing this?”

Not at all. I mean that was my excuse, but the reason why more dragons are coming here is most likely because of my title. The other monster should be coming soon as well. That is why I simply nodded confirming Marc’s theory.

“Naoko, I am challenging you to blindfolded Rock-Paper-Scissors. We will be testing our pure luck against each other. Do you dare?”

As soon as Daisuke said that everyone’s attention was turned our way.

“Good one Daisuke, this way she can’t cheat. You got this one.”

Taichi seemed like he won the lottery upon hearing that.

“Okay, what is the punishment?”

I don’t mind being blindfolded. I can observe my surroundings purely through mana, it is part of [Enhanced Sense] skill. This will not rely on luck, only pure skill.

“I have a perfect punishment for her. She needs to drink this glass of vinegar. This will be especially painful to her since she hadn’t eaten anything all day.”

The one that proposed this was the Archduke. I don’t mind it, but somehow I don’t feel it is that bad. I nodded agreeing to this punishment. The others agreed as well. It feels good to see Naoko lose for a change. Seeing her forehead frown when she accepted the vinegar drink was even better.

Huh? What does the Archduke mean? I looked at Naoko running towards the bathroom as soon as she put the glass down. I can’t be that bad, unless…

“That glass was not vinegar, was it?”

Archduke, good job. I missed this Naoko. She returned to the room and immediately walked towards me. I had no idea what she was planning on doing to me, but I knew it would not be something boring. Last time she played a ton of different adventurers into becoming her followers. I wonder what she will do this time.

What?! This is not what I had in mind when she came towards me. Fighting right now is completely reckless especially with all the dragons around here. Do you have a death wish?
