CHAPTER 214: UPGRADING THE DUNGEON
I was woken up by some commotion going outside the room. It was barely dawn and people were already yelling. Don’t they have any manners? Geez, have some consideration for other guests that are in the inn. Reluctantly I got up and went to see what the problem was.
“Be quiet, we have guests sleeping here. Now, what’s the commotion?”
My eyes were still half closed and I didn’t realize that the ones making all that noise were Daisuke and Taichi. Not until they addressed me.
“Naoko, big trouble, Vitou disappeared yesterday. We can’t find him no matter where we go. Last trace of him is inside the city, but then it vanished completely.”
Oh, that. I guess they finally woke up, but why yell at my inn. Why are you telling me in the first place?
“Still no reason to yell. You should work on your manners. I can’t afford to lose guests. Also, Vitou is here. I found him wandering the streets last night completely drunk. He is still passed out I assume. I don’t think he would wake up anytime soon. I gave him the same treatment that I gave all of you when you came for a visit last time.”
I’m sure none of them remember what happened to them once I had them all pass out, but they should recall the consequences.
“Umm… where is he? We should at the very least guard his room. We really failed miserably last night.”
“He is in the penthouse, also you shouldn’t do anything once she leaves the room. I’ll be in the dungeon. Tell Vitou not to go out with a headache and terrible mana regeneration. I will be back later.”
I knew that they realized exactly what was going on seeing them turn completely red. Also they won’t try and stop me from entering the dungeon since they are aware that I am the Dungeon Master. I didn’t even wait for them to leave and teleported to the dungeon core room
[DUNGEON: Demonic Temptation: Uncommon (D), Floors: 5/13, Monsters: 152/650, Elite: 3/13 Traps: 34/140, DP/day: 300]
Checking the information about it, I could clearly see that it had grown stronger. I know that adding Prison of Light as a subsidiary dungeon helped even if I ended up destroying it. Also Princess did a perfect job of maintaining the dungeon. I had 2.6M DP to spend and reinforce the dungeon today.
Okay, first I will spend a million points to add five additional floors to the dungeon. Then I will add traps that lure people into prisons and monster dens. This will ensure they are forced to use mana excessively if they want to keep on living.
I recalled modeling the fifth floor to be a huge maze. Since I was stingy about it, I did all of that manually with the help of elementals. This place was planned to exhaust the adventurers before confronting the first big boss monster. I remembered what Archduke said about baby monsters, especially elite monsters, so I knew that this floor will be a huge hurdle for others.
Sanshi had grown huge, and I mean Byakko huge over the past months. The little guy looked terrifying. I can imagine some party finally getting out of the maze and reaching the boss room only to be greeted by this monstrosity. I bet they will just turn around and leave. The boss room on the fifth floor will be the first checkpoint. If they are able to beat Sanshi I will reward them. That’s why I planted a dozen treasure chests in the room with stairs leading to the sixth floor. I filled it with some rare and unique items.
On the other hand, I don’t want them attacking Sanshi so easily, so I placed all the hellhounds that I got previously in the same room with him. This will be extra safety for him. From the adventurers that visited this dungeon, I don’t think anyone would be getting past the fifth floor. Also since this dungeon is the least popular among the dungeons in Elicia since there is barely any profit from it and the mana drain is difficult to deal with. Not to mention the entire place is hard to navigate.
To change things a bit I added some stone and metal golems on the fourth floor. I actually used mana crystals that I had on me to make stone ones. Since they are made from magic, they aren’t really counted towards the monsters in the dungeon. I placed twenty of them and left about thirty on standby in the core room. I’ll tell Princess to replace them if the mana crystal is taken, but I had to buy metal golems from the catalog.
I got fifty of them for 75,000 DP and those were the cheapest ones.
Another half a million points went into buying thirty banshees and wraiths which I placed into the labyrinth on the fifth floor so I could really mess with the mentality of adventurers. I want the adventurers to tremble in fear as they talk about this floor. As for the rest of the floors I decided not to do anything for now. I merely put the Nine tailed demon fox on the tenth floor to guard the core alongside Princess.
Finally I had roughly 900,000 DP left and from that I left aside 100k and decided to spend 800k on the Random Reward option and not a single point more.

“Ha, haha, hahahaha… fear me world for I just hit the jackpot. Behold this, with this I shall be undefeated! Muahahaha!”
I was able to draw a Titan’s egg which should become a Titan one day, but I still don’t know when that day will come. Those eggs that I pulled way back then still haven’t hatched. I should probably ask the Archduke about them and see if he knows anything. Anyways, I heard about Titans only in children’s stories, but they should be extremely strong considering they are part of legends.
The last thing that I needed to do is call Princess and apply the mana drain on these new floors. It should be stronger than on the upper floors considering that I am much stronger now than I was back then. And it seems appropriate to have increased mana drain as you are diving deeper into the dungeon. I will also have to explain why she only has 10,000 DP left.
With this being done, I can finally do the last thing that I need to do in Orzak and also the main reason why I came back here.
***GUILD MASTER’S POV***
“Nino, I have a bad feeling. Ever since Naoko arrived back in Orzak I kept on feeling anxious. Do you still think she’s angry with me? I mean she can’t hurt me, but she shouldn’t be planning on doing something?”
“How should I know Uncle? She is being forced to marry against her will thanks to your actions. Just relax, she did end up choosing Millie as her witness, so she shouldn’t be hating all of us for your actions.”
“Still I feel sick when I think about what she might be planning.”
