CHAPTER 24 – MEETING THE HEROES
Three down, two to go. Holding my sword I waited for the next person to appear. A man
in full metal armor with a greatsword approached. Somehow he looked familiar. Upon closer look I recognized my best friend’s face.
“EH? Hii-chan is that you? Why are you here? Moreover why am I fighting you?”
“Finally yourself Nao-chan? You gave us quite the greeting last night. Mai-chan was in shock for an hour, and after you were done playing with Nakamura he was puking the whole night long.”
Eh? What the heck did I do to them? How can it be that bad? I mean they are from Earth, so they shouldn’t have been as shocked with things I have done as people from this place, but from the whispers I overheard today it seems I didn’t do anything as absurd as what he is talking about
“I’m sorry for whatever I did. Please let me know about every detail later on so I can
apologize properly. Both to you and your friends. I don’t want them to feel bad about anything I might have done to them”
“If you guys are ready, prepare for battle.”
“Last question, Hii-chan how much you value that armor?”
“Huh? It was a gift…”
“Begin!”
With these words I immediately changed my stance to low one ad began my charge. I didn’t want to prolong this anymore and since Hii-chan had that armor I was certain he wouldn’t die from my attack. He took the first strike on his sword parrying it almost perfectly.
It seems my Hii-chan had some practice with the sword. Unfortunately you are already too late to stop the second strike. I slashed my sword down the armor on his back and left a long scratch. Match over, my win. I guess he should be proud to be able to parry the first strike considering that before coming to this world he never held a sword. And I know for a fact that Hii-chan does not play games.
Those watching cheered loudly and I looked towards Volt-san whose eyes seemed to be gleaming. He was the one that wanted to experience this attack the most. I really didn’t want to use it against him since I like him and don’t want to hurt him accidentally. Hii-chan is different because he is fully armored with plate armor. Volt-san only has leather armor.
“Naoko-chan this is your win, I also deem you fit to be a D-rank adventurer. There is no need for the fifth fight. Go and get this application processed.”
“Thank you Fioren-san.”
I got my approval and agreed to meet Hii-chan outside once I finished this. Avoiding
Bitch-chan I got Millie to process it. Once I done I rushed out to meet my best friend and his company.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. My name is Maeda Naoko, pleased to meet you. Are you perhaps Hii-chan’s girlfriend? You are super cute. The two of you look so good together. Please take good care of him.”
“I-Inoue Mai, pleased to meet you.”
“Nakamura Daisuke, you made quite an impression on us.”
“Thank you for always looking out for Hiiro. Also I sincerely apologize for my shameless behavior last night.”
We sat down at the restaurant that served the best sweets. We talked about everything that had happened since arriving in Doren. I almost died from jealousy when I learned how they lived in the castle and how they had everything served to them on a silver platter.Just hearing about the parties that participated in made my insides turn green with jealousy.
Lastly, they told me just what exactly had happened last night in great detail. I wanted to die from embarrassment. I couldn’t believe that I have said all that last night, moreover kissing Inoue-san as well. I don’t even remember how many times I apologized to her. From now on I must avoid all alcohol at all costs and under no circumstance should I give in and begin
drinking.
Nakamura-kun was interested in my magic, but I didn’t want to reveal all my cards to
someone I just met so I just told him vague ideas like decreasing strength was better than saying lower attack value or something like that. And as for spirit magic I told him in great detail about how ghosts would chase me around and demand that I listen to their life stories and begging me to do a thousand and one things for them. He didn’t seem overly thrilled with that idea.
Hii-chan on the other hand was more interested as in where exactly I learned how to fight with a sword. I told him honestly that it was thanks to countless battles I had against both weak and strong opponents. He was not convinced, so I told him how upon arriving here I spent every day to familiarize myself with how to use both swords and magic and did not skip a single day. With time I got better and better at fighting and that is how I got where I am now. After explaining it like that he finally stopped pressuring me about that matter.
“Nao-chan what do you plan on doing now? Are you going to stay here in Orzak? You are already plenty powerful from what I have seen and heard I don’t think you would have any problem going anywhere at all.”
“I will stay here. I already consider this place my home. And people are nice. If I left they would miss me and I would miss them as well.”
Hii-chan looked a bit disappointed, but Inoue-san on the other hand felt relieved. From their stories I didn’t plan on joining their aimless travelling. Having a place to call home was much better for me.
They decided to pay a visit to the Earl and I returned to the inn. The next day Heroes’
party was going to leave so I made sure to wake up earlier and prepared each of them some hot chocolate for the road as a farewell gift.
We promised that next time we meet they would become stronger and that we would
have a proper fight. Looking forward to it, I bid them goodbye.
