CHAPTER 83: CREATION MAGIC UNVEILED

The chaos spread with alarming speed throughout the city. I should have expected that, since an attack on the capital city during a celebration tends to have such an effect. Not to mention that this place has not seen any wars for a century. I activated my [Enhanced Sense] skill to be able to locate the enemies, but it made me feel the panic and screams of the common people as well. Somehow I am able to admire Superman even more at this moment.

Upon arriving at one of the places that was being attacked, I saw a dozen or so soldiers and guards already in a fight with a stone golem almost four meters high. Despite it not seeming extremely strong, all of them were having trouble defeating it.

“What is this monster?!”

“The nature has turned against us! We cannot win against the world itself.”

What were the people panicking about, this was just a normal golem. Feeling as if they were exaggerating things, I tried to sense the source of mana that was empowering it and was quite surprised to see that it was the crystal on the top of its head. Without much thought I jumped on top of the golem and smashed its head pulling out the crystal. What sort of an idiot leaves the core unprotected?

“It’s the Viscountess, she came to help. She even destroyed the monster in a single hit. We are saved.”

“What are you guys doing? A mere stone golem and you are already in this state. I feel saddened just by looking at you. Just kill the source and it will disappear.”

They looked at me like I was speaking gibberish. Why did they have such a dumbfounded look on their faces?

“Viscountess, do you know these monsters? You called them stone… golems? Could it be you have met such monsters before?”

What were they saying? Could it be that this world does not know about golem creation and it is still unknown magic? Come to think of it, I don’t remember reading about it in Orzak during my time I was studying about this world. If that is the case then it’s no wonder they couldn’t defeat it.

“Yeah, I know about them, these so called monsters all have a crystal like the one I am holding that stores mana and allows the golem to move. Remove it and you win. Spread this word to everyone that you meet. I am off to destroy the others.”

“As you order Viscountess.”

The soldier saluted and bowed to me before I took off. There were about ten places where there was smoke rising, I moved towards the next one and all the monsters there were stone golems. This made me think that we may be dealing with an earth magician. Every time I met any soldiers I would tell them how to deal with the golems. I didn’t dare stay in a single place for too long. After dealing with a few golems, I would leave the rest to the soldiers and would move to the next place in search of the mastermind.

The area I arrived at was in a much worse state, it was the furthest away from the arena and the amount of golems was that many times more. The mastermind was definitely somewhere nearby. This area of the city didn’t have any significant building so I didn’t know why so many golems were here. Also the very purpose of this attack seemed odd to me. If the goal was to hurt many people, he would attack the arena where a lot of people were gathered and if it was a terrorist attack I would go for the castle or the church or some other significant building.

“Everyone target the crystal on the golem, that is what makes it move!”

“The Elemental Empress is here! We can win now!”

I ignored the yells from the soldier and immediately jumped into action. Unfortunately, since these golems weren’t counted as living I wasn’t gaining any experience from destroying them. The only spoils I got were the mana crystals which I would need to study in detail before putting them to good use.

“To already find a way to deal with my creation magic, you are quite something, aren’t you missy?”

I turned around after hearing a voice talking to me. A short man with thick eyebrows was seated upon a metal golem twice the size the rest of the golems.

“If you know what to look for it becomes that much easier to find it. An engine cannot run without fuel, cut the pipe and it will stop.”

“I have no idea what you are talking about, but it should be related to the power crystals. I can’t believe you knew how to counter me, no wonder that bastard wants to marry you.”

Okay, so he must have been at the guild on the day the Crown Prince proposed. But that doesn’t matter much since I can’t remember anything from that day.

“That is not the only reason why I proposed, she is also the only woman that can match me.”

The Crown Prince arrived with two dozen other people in tow, all armed with hooks and spears. I guess they found their own way to deal with the golems.

“Vitou, you filthy animal I’ll have your head presented to my master this very evening. I’ll have my revenge for that day. Because of you I lost everything. Behold the might of my creation magic.”

He threw all the crystals he had in a pouch on the ground and upon saying some incantation, golems began growing from the earth below.

“Oi, what did you do to him to make him hate you so much?”

“Don’t have a clue, I don’t even know who he is. Anyway, how do you want to do this? I take the left and you take the right?”

“How about I take out all of them and you just try to keep the rest of the city safe?”

“Your friend made sure of that already, now let’s put this to an end.”
