CHAPTER 87: WAKING UP
Do you know that feeling when you are asleep, but also aware of everything that is going on around you? You don’t want to move because that will make you wake up and that is something you don’t want. This is exactly how I felt for the past few hours.
I could hear Yoru’s fast breathing near me and countless steps running around the mansions. I heard conversations among many of my underlings and figured out I was back in my mansion. I don’t know who brought me back, but I am grateful. I should probably thank the Crown Prince since he was the only one with me aside from Yoru before I passed out.
As I was lying down comfortably in my bed I could only assume we won after the teleport. I was about to let myself go and fall asleep once again when I heard someone enter my house.
“Your Majesty, Your Highness what brings men of such honor to this humble abode.”
“I came to see your boss, is there any change?”
“No, sadly she remains as still as ever. Can I get some tea for the two of you noble guests as you go visit her?”
“No need, I know the room, you don’t need to follow us.”
The Crown Prince and the King came to visit me personally, to what do I owe this honor? One might mistake me for royalty considering their visitation. I heard them open the door to my room and immediately greet Yoru telling him they didn’t plan on touching me only checking up to see if there is any change.
What a good boy Yoru. It seems you have been keeping me safe all this time. Once I get up, I will make sure to reward you the best I can. I’ll buy you all the meat you can eat.
“Listen to me my son, I know you disagree with me, but I know what we need and it is her. This country needs those as strong as she is. You saw her fight at the arena and felt it firsthand. That is why I am telling you this: MARRY HER!”
Just as I thought, this was all planned out by the king and the Crown Prince is just a puppet for his plans. But something seems to have changed, as the two of them seemed to be fighting and the Crown Prince does not seem as interested in marrying me as he was before.
Well, it is a good thing for me. In this life I will absolutely never marry. Who wants to be bound like that? Just imagining not being able to drool over handsome people freely is such a sad thought. That is why I plan to never marry anyone and live freely.
“And I am telling you no way. We’ve already been over this. I do not want to have anything to do with her, or her origins. Poking a sleeping tiger can only be seen as a foolish act.”
My origins? Did the King tell the Crown Prince that I am from Earth like the rest of heroes? But why wouldn’t he want to have nothing to do with my origins if he plans on
interacting with the rest of the heroes? It seems I am missing some context.
“Your cowardice regarding this matter is unbefitting of your status. The moment she wakes up, I will have you announce your engagement to her and have her officially introduced to the royal family. This is an order.”
I heard one set of steps leave the room and immediately after that teeth grinding next to me.
“He plans on ordering me around? I will not tolerate this! Guards leave the armor here and follow me. I have to speak with mother. Let’s see if he is still willing to order me around once mother gets involved.”
After some more hustling and bustling around the room peace and quiet finally reappeared. Opening my eyes and sitting up straight, I looked at the delivered armor. Finally, I have obtained a decent piece of equipment that I can wear.
Yoru, upon seeing me, began wagging his fluffy tail and squealing with a high pitch tone out of pure happiness. He might be a monster, but right now all I could see was an overgrown puppy.
“I am fine, I’m fine Yoru. You did an amazing job keeping me safe. Once I am out of here I promise to get you a real treat.”
Petting the wolf I began packing my things. I will not let the King do as he pleases. To foil his plans, I will unnoticeably slip out of Kapitalia and head back to Orzak. The only problem I have is Earl Orzak, I don’t know if he left already and if he didn’t will he agree to slip out without anyone noticing.
Stuffing all my belongings into inventory, I recalled Yoru and let him ret. I pulled into my room the first person that passed by. It just happened to be the same person that I told to think of a group name.
“You, tell me your name. I have something important to do and don’t have much time.”
“Honorable Boss you are finally awake, I was so worried. I am so happy you are well. This one is called Dogusu.”
“Look Dogusu, I have to leave soon and I need to make sure you all don’t go and do something stupid and get yourselves hurt. That is why I put you in charge. You must keep this place in one piece while I am not here, okay?”
I pulled out a pen and paper and wrote that Dogusu was in charge while I am away then told him to post it in the main room. And while he stood frozen in place, I reminded him to take good care of Ichi and Nii and then jumped out of the window.
Heading for the castle, I needed to escort Earl Orzak back to our hometown. Sadly, I had to find him first. If I am lucky, I will be able to find him at the castle if not, I think I would have to check every tavern and pray he isn’t drinking anywhere since he is on vacation right now.
Convincing him shouldn’t be a problem, after all he isn’t the type of person that enjoys socializing with other nobles. Hopefully, he didn’t leave already, otherwise I can kiss my reward goodbye. Sneaking into the castle I headed towards his room while avoiding all the guards.
