Chapter 129: The Kingdom of Cecilio’s Defeat part 1

The former Kingdom of Starveek could broadly be divided into north and south—more precisely, a northeast and a southwest. The Kingdom of Alois had been founded by nobles from the southwest, who overthrew the Starvine royal house backed by the northeastern lords. The nobles of the north and east, judged loyal to the former royal family, now groaned under the crushing taxes imposed by the new dynasty.

There were eight highways running from the Kingdom of Alois to the former Belta region. Between the two countries stretched a vast tract of undeveloped land, broken by a single large lake. The two direct routes differed only in whether they ran along the near or far shore of that lake. All the remaining roads passed through the Kingdom of Cecilio.
