Chapter 140: Death Line part 2
After repelling yet another charge—she’d lost count of how many—Selena leaned against a pillar and drifted into a brief doze. If she could recover even a little mana, she might still be able to cast Heal again. If she had Heal at her disposal, she might be able to save someone’s life.
Her subordinates did the same—huddling together and devouring scraps of sleep until the next alarm.
(The one good thing about a blizzard is that we won’t run out of water.)
The snow kept falling. If they set out pots, they filled quickly. And thanks to Alan’s foresight, the fort had more coal stockpiled than they could ever burn through. Here, at least, they could afford light and heat.
That warmth was one of Human Starveek’s few advantages. The Alois lords charging through the blizzard moved stiffly from the cold.
