Chapter 332
Chapter 332: Weakening is most likely unavoidable, but Slimization would be an issue and Feminization is a hard no!
Day 79 – Afternoon, Dungeon 40F
Restraint and control. If I could do it just by trying I wouldn’t have had any trouble in the first place, but failing means a painful self-destruction. There’s likely a limit to what the gear can compensate for, and in the end it all depends on having or not having the control.
And while『Wisdom』greatly improved my control, that very 『Wisdom』also boosted『Magic Wrap』so much that my body is still being destroyed by self-inflicted damage. I’m just barely holding on thanks to『Regeneration』. That’s right, there was meaning to earnestly going over the limits of 『Regeneration』night after night without rest so much, that I even obtained 『Limit Break』, and then continuing challenging the limits even further! Alright, let’s keep going at it tonight as well and go over all of the limits all over the place.
Normally『Healing』or『Recovery』should evolve into 『Super Recovery』or『Instant Recovery』but for some reason it became 『Regeneration』. If it further evolves into 『Super Regeneration』or『Instant Regeneration』it might compensate for low ViT or HP, but it sort of feels wrong for a human being, and there is also a question of what is it going to evolve into next. Well, anything is fine as long as I can get stronger… But 『Regeneration』is skill exclusive to monsters, isn’t it? If possible, I wish it could evolve into a higher-tier skill among those available to humans? It’s kind of giving me a bad rep, you know? Yeah, even I was kind of creeped out when I was able to just stick back a torn off arm. Yikes.
While exchanging blows with the『Mantis Gigant Lv40』 on the 40th floor, I take a single step forward, closing the distance to its feet. Spinning around, I sweep at its legs with the 『Staff of the World Tree,』then complete another full rotation, adding centrifugal force to cleanly sever its head. Since speed is all I have, I need to make full use of spinning and centrifugal force, if I want to fight without putting strain on my body from skill effects.I’m simply imitating Dancing Girl’s movements, but I might get a skill by mimicking them.
I want to add my body weight and 『Gravity』 magic as well, but I still can’t control it, and the self-inflicted damage is severe. Only 『Holding』 is being honed through daily handiwork, giving me a much better control over it, and also a great help in cooking.
Armored Pres-san’s swordplay involves creation and complicated control of multiple axes of revolution inside and outside the body in an extreme form of circular motion. I can’t do that yet. And the strain of imitating something I can’t do is exactly what leads to self-destruction. The Dancing Girl uses multiple circular motions in an even more extreme way, and it’s easy to mimic while also increasing destructive power. But it’s easy to read and dodge. That technique is the product of the dancing girl’s own sense of rhythm, tempo, and sense of distance culminating in unique dance-like movements. And as expected, that is the part that I can’t imitate. All I can do for now is pick the good stuff from both of them and somehow merge and link and mix it all together.
By using the joints of the body as central points, I create more complex, more rapid, and waste-free circular movements, engraving them into my muscle memory. Improves both technique and physical ability, I reduce reliance on skill-based enhancements, allowing for more efficient execution. Doing so will lessen self-inflicted damage, and will also reduce MP required to cover 『Regeneration』. Moreover, I have two of the best role models one can possibly wish for.
(Bounce Bounce!)
No, it’s actually three role models, but using Slime-san as an example poses quite a few issues that can’t be resolved without abandoning being a human entirely? Yeah, I’m pretty sure a human capable of freely transforming at will or swallowing monsters a whole would be quite problematic.
「Wrists. Are… Last, okay? From the shoulder, onward……Not, reverse.」
「Right, first hips, move your hips.
Then your hips and abdomen,
To your bottom and your back.」
Instructions are going back and forth. What they probably mean is not to rely on the arms for motion. Cut with the body first; the technique that follows, from the shoulder onward, is what the arms are for. I love thighs and butts, but it seems I didn’t pay much attention to mine. Well, if I did, I’d be a weirdo!
I spin my way into slashing another mantis, while my eyes aren’t spinning, I might be close to getting 『Spin to Win』skill.
「Don’t swing, it. Just gently…? Slide, the blade.」
「Yes. The edge comes last,
After the arm,
The body is what does the cutting.」
The instructors give harsh evaluations. Alright, tonight let’s work hard on lessons with the miniskirt teacher ladies! But how is that any different from the miniskirt secretary from the other day? Well, I guess it have to be suits. I’ve even prepared fake glasses for the two of them, but that alone probably won’t make them distinguishable from lovely sexy secretaries. Maybe I should give them an attendance sheet or something? Wait, no—we’re in another world, so they no one can attend anyway. Since everyone’s here, wouldn’t it be nice if the homeroom teacher showed some consideration and came for a home visit or something? Damn, the school surely lacks consideration for the students, although I don’t even know its name.
Armored Pres-san gives a demonstration, a simple stroke of a sword. But that is everything.
Kyojitsu is what ties all of the movements together, but the timing is off because instantaneous movement from 『Magic Wrap』’ed『Teleportation』and hyper acceleration. If the timing is drifting off because I can’t synchronously manage everything at once, then there is no other choice but to amend that, in other words, grasp the proper form.
Using the power of the legs, abdomen, buttocks, and back, essentially the muscles around the waist, to rotate the hips and build up torque, while the legs and upper body coordinate to create a circular motion, with the arms following through and the blade finally cutting through. That’s what they seem to be saying, I guess? The current situation is the result of skipping all the basics, so I need a chance to redo everything from the beginnings.
「Hyaahaaa?」
「「Not those beginnings!」」
Looks like this wasn’t it. Okay, let’s take off the spiked shoulder pads for now. No one is buying them for some reason? However, Dancing Girl has greatly improved at scolding. And pretty much at that alone. How come?
Armored Pres-sensei’s movements resemble Kyojitsu. And the pinnacle of that must be Sword Flash. I mean, that’s not even a Skill, it’s just a technique.
On the other hand, Dancing Girl is providing guidance on movements centered around circular motion, but those are born from advanced footwork and aren’t that easy either.
So if I were to mimic someone, then Fish Girl is much more suitable as a beginner course. It’s Fish Girl-sensei. Actually, Fish Girl is the one with the most outstandingly beautiful and clean swordsmanship among the girls. Her movements are simple and sharpened with practicality.
Using the power of the entire body efficiently, quickly, and precisely, layering movement, action, and result into one seamless flow. Precise movements are exactly what I need to reduce the burden on the body.
In short, the self-destruction is the result of purely pursuing the fastest possible attack while ignoring the body itself. Since I wasn’t moving my body to attack but instead was only using it to make an attack a reality it led to an unreasonable strain. But now, with『Teleportation』I can compensate for speed, and 『Body Control』is at level 9 already, so I believe I can handle it.
「Kuh.」
I exhale with effort. I’m putting too much strength. Since that strength doesn’t flow properly, I end up simply swinging a sword instead of performing a slash.
I’ve been slashing at 『Metal Beetle Lv 41』 for a while now, but cutting them is quite a challenge since they are basically lumps of metal flying at high speed. I kind of feel like clubbing them with a bat would’ve been way easier? Moreover, they are flying in somewhat irregular trajectories, which makes it difficult to catch them. But going HYAAHA with a bat seems like an issue in terms of Affection Rating.
But unlike baseball, if a pitcher is throwing five or six balls at you from different directions at the same time, then chasing them down with a bat and beating them to death is absolutely the right move. No matter how you look at it, that’s a full-on brawl.
「Only, Practice, Helps. The body, will learn, by itself.」
「Feel,
Your movements,
Your body.」
(Jiggle Jiggle)
No, jiggle-jiggle is a secret technique only fluid creatures can pull off. If a human could pull that off, they wouldn’t be able to call themselves human, you know? The third instructor is being totally unreasonable! This “jiggle-jiggle” is basically saying, “If your body can’t keep up, just reshape it instead.” Even if Slime-san doesn’t seem to be moving, it is actually creating internal rotations within its body. I wonder if I could do that using magic? Using bodily fluids would sort of mean giving up on being a human… and it also sounds very unhealthy? .
But it seems 『Wisdom』-san understood everything before the body managed to memorize it. The optimal movements are beginning to take shape unconsciously. After all, I’ve been observing the two best role models with my 『Rajingan』all this time, so I have load of data to work with! Yeah, I’ve been watching very closely. I mean, the feminine shapes of their armor are quite lewd, so my eyes are pretty much glued to them?
While surely it’s not without support from『Swordmaster』skill, but I’m getting a grasp of a proper fencing form. Now I just have to practice in real combat. As for a proper highschool boy form, I’m already practicing it every night and planning on doing the same tonight as well. That is the true battlefield. It’s a training ground for surprise attacks.
It’s convenient that they come at me with swords, making it easier to fight. The 42F’s 『Skeleton Knight Lv42』is the perfect opponent for swordplay. And since they are also wearing armor and carrying shields they are also perfect to make some pocket money.
Taking a step forward I halt, and after a momentary pause a singular sword stroke is unleashed. The attack is fast and has quite a bit of power behind it, moreover, it barely puts any strain on the body.
However, there is that momentarily pause, and that’s fatal.
I can’t take a hit, so I have to keep constantly moving. I need to mesh different movements together as if in a dance, like Dancing Girl does, otherwise I end up with those pauses. Moreover, when I halt, it completely kills the momentum, it might be fine for an isolated attack, but it’s too much of an issue for a duel.
「I’d surely get beaten up like this? I stop moving for a moment, and on top of that, the next motion is kinda slowed down?」
(Jiggle-Jiggle) (Nod-Nod) (Yup-Yup)
Looks like I am going to get beat up, but why are they so happy? They are hyped to beat me!
Let’s try borrowing the Guild’s training ground on the way back and practicing there for a bit. If there is no choice but to change my fighting style then practice is indispensable. Changing fighting style comes with huge demerits. Weakening is most likely unavoidable. But what comes later doesn’t matter, what’s important is that I possess the strength to fight right now. Anyway, the first thing is to have a way to hit. The rest can be figured out while striking, after all, most things in this world can be solved if you just keep hitting them long enough.
Notes
[TL Note: Some of you might be puzzled why Dancing Girl’s lines now look like this. Her lines are always split into 3 parts in the original, but in English using punctuation or even double spacing isn’t enough, it just isn’t sufficiently unnatural. And this was the best I was able to come up with. So yeah, from now on we are rolling with this.]
