It was completely absurd, but aside from the halberd, no spears existed that weren’t thrust-only types. Other than stabbing, all they could do was bash or sweep. That made them useless once an enemy got close. Sure, spears were incredibly strong in head-on combat, but their range of attack was so narrow that everything else turned into a weakness. In this other world where staff techniques hadn’t developed, the fact that spears lacked the ability to slash was downright fatal. In close quarters, they simply lacked offensive power… Seems like this other world underestimates just how terrifying spears can be.

So, I made prototypes and picked three candidates for testing, but long-handled weapons aren’t really suitable for coordinated combat unless you can truly master them. It’s fine if all you’re doing is stabbing, but swinging them around can be dangerous. Still, when you think of spears,
