Then a sudden thought struck Noah.

“Y-You’re not saying… you’re one of those children?”

“I figured you’d say that, but no. I’m not one of them,” Siegfried denied flatly.

Noah sighed. So when was Siegfried going to enter the story?

“Anyway, he had the slaves bear his children,” the man went on.

The newborns were left in their mothers’ care as he waited for his materials to grow. He began experimentation as soon as they reached about one year old and could start to speak.

Of course, the experiments were difficult. One-year-olds didn’t have the strength to endure surgeries. And even if they could, their undeveloped minds often failed to control the Demon Pacts, leading to frequent rampages. After wasting several of them, Housman decided to raise the minimum age.

And so, the experiments continued.

“He had to wait for the materials to grow each time. A long, drawn-out
