The Independent Trade City was still undergoing reconstruction following the attack by the Imperial Federation. Many citizens who had lost their homes were placed in temporary housing throughout the city. Since the restoration efforts prioritized civilian residences, the Campbell family, with a member serving in the Knight Guard, was still forced to live in a less-than-ideal wooden barrack.

Once she had eaten her fill, it was time to leave for work. Cecily stood at the entrance. The biting winter wind rushing through the open doorway forced her to straighten up. She could feel her loosened muscles tightening.

“You’ve got more gravitas now,” Aria remarked.

“You think so?”

“Yeah. You look completely different from when we first met.” She narrowed her eyes, as if looking at something dazzling. “The way you carry yourself, the look on your face. You’ve changed a lot.”
