The Independent Trade City was in turmoil.

The earthquake’s damage was surprisingly minor. While some buildings had tilted columns and cracked walls, none had collapsed. Citizens indoors suffered only minor injuries—bruises and sprains from falling objects, or burns from cooking—but nothing severe.

However, the bustling main street was another story. People toppled over in a chain reaction, crashing into one another. Chaos erupted. Screams turned to shouts. Some called out for loved ones, others cried in pain. Some shoved aside those who had fallen on them, sparking anger in return. Even after the tremors ceased, confusion persisted, and it took time for people to help each other back to their feet.

As the earthquake settled, those indoors cautiously peeked outside. They exchanged glances with those on the streets, voicing their thoughts on what just happened. Then, all gazes turned upward—toward Blair Volcano.
