And so, the day of selection arrived.

Applicants for the reorganization of the Imperial Warriors gathered on a plain near the imperial capital.

Most were mercenaries, eager to seize glory and climb the social ladder. A few young imperial citizens were present, though they were a minority. Ordered to wait, some were chatting with acquaintances, others quietly maintaining their weapons, while a few kept their distance, eyeing the others competitively.

Noah Cartwright stood out like a sore thumb. Clad in the black armor of the Imperial Knights, he drew unwanted attention.

He felt their eyes on him, stares wondering what a noble knight was doing here, but he had more pressing concerns.
