The covered wagon tore through the main street, forcing people to scramble aside in a panic. Still, the shifting crowds kept getting in the way, preventing the bug-eyed man and his group from picking up speed.

Thanks to that, Hilda kept them in sight, never falling behind.

The hard shape of the potato pressed against her right palm. She had one chance. If she missed, the robber would escape. She needed a swift, precise throw.

Taking one large step forward, she used the momentum of her sprint to execute a seamless, all-out throw.

The potato shot through the air like an arrow and struck the wagon’s left rear wheel. The impact sent the wheel flying apart, tilting the vehicle sharply. The edge of the cargo bed scraped a deep line into the ground. The horse neighed, and the driver screamed as he was thrown off.
