Interlude: Lucy – Part 02

Hearing Luke’s name, Lucy’s face brightened. “Oh my, you and Luke? Is that true, Cecily?”

“Uh, no…”

She hesitated. It was related, very much so, but explaining it was another matter.

While Cecily struggled for words, Lucy and Fio continued chatting.

“I only met him once, but he seemed like a very respectable young man.”

“He was just putting on a good face.”

“Now, now, that’s not a nice thing to say. He was a fine gentleman.”

“Hmm, well, I think he’s just a grumpy eccentric. Hardly talks.”

“Again with that. Show some respect.”

“Yeah, yeah, sorry.”

Lucy sighed, resting a hand on her cheek. “Still, what a wonderful thing. Honestly, I had almost given up on you ever dating anyone. I can’t thank Luke enough.”

That was harsh, but there were more important things to address.

“M-Mother, let me correct that misunderstanding. We are not dating.”
