Interlude: Zenobia or Charlotte – Part 04

Despite constantly moving around the city, there seemed to be a pattern to the locations those traveling merchants chose. That day, the small man, eager to act, led Charlotte’s group to an alley near the main gate. There, a covered wagon had been converted into a stall, targeting travelers entering and leaving the city.

At a glance, there were three merchants. One sat on the driver’s bench, puffing a cigar, while the other two showcased their wares near a curious crowd. One held a piece of jewel steel, chanting a prayer, while the other explained how it worked.

They divided their roles into driver, demonstrator, and spokesman.
