With their destination decided, Cecily’s group followed several steps in their pursuit of the person in black who kidnapped Aria.

There was a traveling merchant who made a living by purchasing jewel steel in the Independent Trade City and exporting it beyond the city’s borders. Gordon, the leader of the rescue team, first detained this merchant temporarily. He then bought the merchant’s entire stock, wagon, and clothing, and even borrowed his real name to assume a false identity.

Gordon provided appropriate disguises for the Knight Guard members. He instructed the male members to pose as mercenaries hired by the merchant as bodyguards. Since Cecily lacked riding skills and Hilda was injured, the two of them were to pass as the merchant’s daughters.

Their destination lay within the former Crowd Powers’ territory. Wearing Knight Guard uniforms would be far too conspicuous, and traveling through a region under the Imperial Federation’s
