Lisa turned to face Hugo and Hannibal. “I will attend tomorrow’s meeting in Luke’s place.”

She hadn’t been summoned here. She came of her own volition, solely to deliver these words.

As expected, Hugo and Hannibal didn’t look pleased. Their stern gazes bore into her. She caught the sound of sharp breaths from Zenobia and her companions.

“I’m sure you understand why Luke never brought you to the meetings,” Hugo said.

“Think back,” Hannibal added. “Remember what happened the last time Luke brought you to one.”

She hadn’t forgotten, not in the least. Three years ago, Luke brought her to a meeting to introduce her, to showcase her ability to forge Infernal Blades.

The then-representatives of the various nations showered Lisa with scathing slander.

“Are you the demon summoned by this scrawny brat by sacrificing his lover?”
“Such a frail-looking creature.”
“Hardly worth the loss of Basil Ainsworth.”
