Narrowing her eyes, the Girl King, Zenobia Q. Lanchester, scanned the Imperial Federation’s delegates.
“I dislike beating around the bush, so I will get straight to the point,” she began. “Imperial Federation, what is the true intent behind your merger?”
“The true intent?” Augustus furrowed his brow. “Did we not explain during the recent skirmish? The Empire and the Crowd Powers have allied for the sole purpose of ensuring thorough countermeasures against Valbanill.”
Zenobia’s lips curled into a derisive smile. “We both know that’s just an excuse.”
“What did you say?”
“If the merger succeeds, you will control more than half of the continent. Only a fool would believe this is solely about fighting Valbanill.”
“What are you implying?” Lancelot interjected. “That we, under the guise of fighting Valbanill, are bolstering our strength for some underhanded purpose? Is that what the Girl King of the Militant Nation believes?”
