“Cecily!” a voice called from the front. It was Hilda. “Quit dawdling and get to that giant freak!”
“Yeah!” Cecily gave her a firm nod, then turned back to the Former and held out a hand. “Let’s go.”
“You’re taking me with you? Even in my current state?”
“You’re the one who said you’d choose how you’d go out.”
“True enough.”
The Former took her hand and rose, but her legs were shaky. Cecily and Lisa, almost in sync, moved to support her from both sides. She squirmed uncomfortably.
“Let me go. This is embarrassing.”
“Wounded people should do what they’re told,” Patty admonished. “Otherwise, we’re leaving you behind.”
Groaning, the Former reluctantly leaned into Cecily and Lisa for support.
