“Ugh.”
The young man collapsed in tears. He looked so pitiful it almost stirred a bit of sympathy.
“If you can do something about that smell, then I might agree to be your friend.”
“R-Really?!”
He jerked his head up. He looked like he was about to cling to her legs any second.
Why was he so desperate?
Is it because he likes me?
That thought alone made her whole body heat up again.
“Affirmative.”
“Understood! I may only be a fledgling scholar, but I swear I’ll figure something out!” He stood up and clenched his fists with determination.
“Hm?”
That’s when Aria realized something. At some point, their conversation had drawn attention. She glanced around to see people watching them like a sideshow. It made her feel restless. She wanted to get out of here. Was this… embarrassment?
